Bush just vetoed the child health care bill and then turned around and demanded that Congress give him another 190 billion to spend in Iraq. Now there''s compassionate conservatism in action.

But Schip is only the beginning. Let''s not forget the 5K savings bond, 1K IRA, universal daycare, universal preschool and to round it out "free" healthcare for everyone. No problem.

Republican logic:


Total U.S. government paid health care for every man, woman and child in Iraq is a very good thing.

Government subsidized health care for the children of the poor and working poor in this country is a terrible idea.
