29% given the liberal/democratic world-view domination of the major news media is astonishing. Given time, the good news will eventually work itself out even through them (e.g., the NYT's opinion piece from the two ardent critics of the war from the Brookings Institution who went to Iraq and came away impressed with the surge's progress).

If we hadn't/weren't fighting the terrorists in Iraq, they'd simply have sent all their mujahadeen/jihadists to Afghanistan (where Osama & all the rest got their start to begin with) with all the same results merely shifted a border away. And the democrats & media todies would be carping all the way with a single word variation on the theme -- replacing the word "Iraq" with "Afghanistan."

Americans are spoiled silly. At the first sign of hardship, they are ready to jump ship. Anything more than a "soundbite" is too much for many Americans. This reflects in poor investment choices, spending more than they can afford, wanting the government to do everything for us, and expecting all of our problems to be solved for us by others. In spite of this, many foreigners clamor to be in America. Sounds like we are doing better than many other places.
