Typo.

Should be:

"Example from FoxNews: "Question: If Democrats GAIN control of Congress, are you afraid your taxes will be raised?"..."

"I can't imagine a liberal poll like [the one by] CBS saying that the war is going badly. ;)"

No doubt about it, poll questions can be phrased to lead to a desired result. Example from FoxNews: "Question: If Democrats can control of Congress, are you afraid your taxes will be raised?"... or this one from Hillary Clinton: "How concerned are you that the Bush administration is eroding our basic freedoms?" "Poll questions" like that are definitely slanted.

However, in this case, the most conservative of the pollsters, Rasmussen, agrees with CBS on this one. So I don't think this one was "cooked".

"Wednesday, June 27, 2007

Just 27% of Americans believe that President Bush is doing a good or an excellent job handling the situation in Iraq. That's unchanged from a month ago. Twenty-two percent (22%) say the President is doing a "fair" job while 50% rate his performance as "poor" when it comes to Iraq...

Just 29% of all voters think that in the long run, the mission in Iraq will be deemed a success."

I keep hearing the term "win in Iraq", but I don't know what that means. Does anyone else out there? Does that mean to kill every Iraqii there and come home? Does it mean to kill everyone there who is not an Iraqii? Does it mean that the Iraqiis fall to their knees and worship King George? What will success there look like? It certainly isn't success when everyday our sons and daughters are dying and their bodies being brought back under cover of darkness, with absolutely NO fanfair, no attention whatsoever. Our veterans can't even get decent hospital care. This whole war is a dismal, horrible mess and I know who made it!

"Don't worry about the election there is one thing I know for sure it will not be a Republican no way hozay, noway we have had enough of the republican way until I am afraid to go to bed at night. Stick with it"Dahlin" it will be you against all the U.S. I see a landslide victory in fact how do you like those apples."

I hope you are right; however, keep in mind two things: 1. the republicans didn't win the past two presidential elections, but they are a reality in our lives, 2. we had a democratic landslide in the last election, and what exactly did that give us?

singrick I am sorry but Bush put us in this position and if you think the terrorist are not planning some kind of attack in the U.S. I got a bridge to sell you. I have heard fight them there or you will fight them here and I bet the terrorist have heard Bush's slogan as well and I am afraid they will show us and I do not think it is far off. Look at London. You say he is correcting his mistakes he is a stubborn and cocky man and all our boys can go to prove his point. Well I am not willing to sacrifice one more life for a failed policy, and if you had a son or daughter touring 3 or 4 tours in Iraq you would not be so cocky yourself.

Forget WMD's, forget regime change, forget protecting Israel, and don't even consider 9-11, when the final decision actually came to go to war, there was one abiding common interest that fueled it; war profits. They knew before it started, the only result would be chaos, and the only beneficiaries would be those profiteers.

Cheney KNEW there were no WMD's, and outed Plame to warn all the other CIA boy and girl scouts to shut up or get outed...

If you are willing to let these liars be your leaders, you need your rightwing head examined.

homjett: We're not saying we "lost" anything. We're saying it was a HUGE blunder going there in the first place. We're all for the fight against terrorism, without question, The fight was not in Iraq. Afghanistan, THAT is where we'll "fight them there instead of here."

Yes, although I suspect it has more to do with next year's elections and Bush's poor approval ratings.

Guys like Lugar have been, up until a few weeks ago, the biggest enablers of Bush's War Against Reason. I'm not very impressed with their supposed change of heart.

If I had my way I would find Rumsfeld and make him pay for every death we had in Iraq. Thank goodness for secretary Gates the only honest and straight forward man in this administration firing Pace was so great and he does not tolerate incompetence you are gone he listens to his troops and I admire him so far. I bet Bush and Cheney don't like him but it is too late for another change but if they could I bet he would be gone, because they cannot control Gates. He is advocating bringing the troops home.

I have asked myself how do the folks that answer these Polls really know whats going on in Iraq?? All they see is the bombings an hear all the bad news, deaths of our soldiers, the Liberal pundits an the Demos in Congress all saying the war is lost. What would you expect them to say. You have the liberals waving the White Flag even as our troops are in harms way. If the Demos are looking for a way to lose the next election, let them stay on this course, an without a doubt, try censoring Talk Radio. As in the words of Yamamoto, "I am afraid we have awaken a sleepin giant" or something like that, after the attack on Pearl Harbour.

Irismail42 have you been asleep and to believe Faux Nooz tells me a lot. I watched an investigative report on the war and Rumsfeld lost this war right at the beginning by cutting forces and equipment and the equipment he sent was not enough and not sufficient for the type war we are fighting it was on CNN I hope everyone watches it. It is a documentary on how wrong can you be to me. They still haven't gotten the equipment to these boys to do the job effectively. The war is over BRING THEM HOME. I wish we could hang in but the situation is just a loosing game. I wish they had Petreus there at the beginning he might of told Rumsfeld what for and Petreus has really performed miracles but these boys are on there 4th turn and they are tired and worn out.

Bush lost Iraq the moment he invaded, but you & your kind where too ignorant to recognize it ---
Posted by j-whitman at 10:39 AM : Jun 30, 2007

They're not ignorant - they're arrogant. Too proud to admit defeat. Too proud to admit it was wrong to invade. These people would rather let the US soldiers die, the US treasury dwindle and our nation's prestige wither.

That's what happens when you attach your ego to a politician. His mistakes must be excused and rationalized. His lapses in judgments must be defended. All the bad news must be downplayed or ignored. Facts, if they are negative, must be wrong.

It's the ultimate in treason. Putting one's fragile ego before the good of the nation. Its little wonder the war defenders love Bush - they share this vile and abhorrent personality trait.
