Key Provisions Of Reform Bill Receive Wide Support From Both Republicans And Democrats
- where do they expect these illegals to come up with $5000.00?maybe a paycheck loan? then they could charge them compounded interest forever.i see lots of arguing and intelectual retoric about all of these polls. what we need are actual solutions that find ways to deport them.if we focus on ideas thet are fiscally solvent, then forward those ideas to our representstives, they could not deny that we are trying to help in responsible ways to ward off another mexican american war.when they refuse to support our ideas,we can get rid of them for someone who is eager to serve this countrys best interest.

We have a law that's unenforceable,we're trying to male it enforceable and practical. There's a $5,000 penalty that these people who've been here contributing to society have to pay, so don't say that we're rewarding illegality because that's not so. What we're rewarding is hard work that Americans don't want to do but benefit from.
And just how many do you think will step up, register, pay the paltry sum, & return home for 5yrs?
I wish you guys were as upset about folks at the Justice Deprtment who broke our laws and now say,"but, as a lawyer, I didn't mean to."
Kinda what they are saying, the illegals that is, we are here and since we have been here (breaking the law) we deserve a fasttrack to citizenship.- Reply to this comment
- Get your facts straight and understand your family also came to this country at some point and now you are here and now you are American!! Even if they came in the 1800s illegally (although at this time the immigration department did not exist) let's just use this as an example. So they came here illegally in the 1800s; would that change how you feel about your country today?

Well, having native American blood in me, My ancestors were waiting here when you got here. However, that is not the question at this time. I and many immigrants and children...descendents of immigrant have mebreaced this country, worked hard to succeed. Now some illegals are hard-working people, who do care alot for family, and could and would embrace this country as their sovereign. However too large a percentage of these illegals want to live off the taxpayers income and defile our country. - Reply to this comment
- We have illegal immigrants saturating this country because immigration stopped enforcing the laws! We have 2 kinds of illegal immigrants in this country now. One kind is the hard working, nose-to-the-grindstone worker who is willing to do what is necessary to earn a living. This kind comes to this country with strong family values and a sterling work ethic. We need to reward this one. They want to integrate, learn English and be citizens. They constantly worry about being sent back across the border. This kind can't stand the other kind either.
The other kind is here to steal, cheat, exploit, and manipulate the system to suit them. They have zero interest in integrating and really don't even like the United States that much. They attach themselves to social services and use stolen identities to acquire homes and cars and then lay up in the home and have baby after baby that will be supported by the tax payers...which isn't going to affect them. They abandon families and move through society like a plague. These we need to give back to their motherland...a place that would probably be safer and more prosperous without this kind of ilk, but they gotta go. And remember, Mexico doesn't like illegal immigrants either...but expects the United States to just open the floodgates for its people.
Now, how do you separate the *** from cream? Our system needs more than just $5000 penalty and reapplication process for illegals. - Reply to this comment

- Firststate,
Thanks for the heads up on the CBS poll methodology that I missed. The 3% margin of error means that the CBS poll is valid(assuming a greater respondent base than the Rasmussen 800). The 4% Rasmussen poll is not reliable.
Personally, I don't care about the polls, I care about what policy is going to address the problem and the anger expressed here is not policy. - Reply to this comment
- Most Americans don't have any idea, what is in this bill. Hell, most elected officials don't know whats in it.
I read and article on CNN- Lou Dobbs,Transcripts 5-23-07, that every American should at least read.
Some of the proposals in this bill puts the security of the United States itself ar risk.
Make your own conclusion..... - Reply to this comment
- misha131,
Any poll with a margin of error of 4% is worthless and definitely does not have a 95% level of confidence, whatever that is.

We paid for the Brooklyn bridge too.

These people worked for food to feed their families, that's the crime. Americans paid them under the table, that's the real crime. - Reply to this comment
- And you idiots saying we "stole" the territory from Mexico are the products of public school education. We conquered the territory, and in the peace treaty, we paid for the land we took: we paid 15 million dollars for that land AFTER paying for it in blood. Then there was the Gadsden Purhcase of 1853 that purchased portions of southern New Mexico, Texas, and Arizona.
Talk about something that you know-like treasonous immigration bills for example. - Reply to this comment
- MCVet said "What is it with you people. These are our neighbors who came into this country to find work so they could feed their families."
What is it with you MCVet. We already have enough children and adults in this country that go hungry everyday and too many that are poor! "Neighbors" DON"T come into your house and "steal" your food...that is a thief... and these are not neighbors when they break our immigration laws as soon as they sneak into this country...that is a criminal!!! You MCVet need to move to Mexico with them and help them fight for their cause..Help them fight for their government to support them since you feel so bad for them. We as AMERICAN citizens and LEGAL immigrants cannot accept them and will not accept them when we have enough starving and homeless people here already.... - Reply to this comment
- I don't trust polls done by ANY news organization because they all have their agendas. I can't believe that most Americans would support this atrocity. I believe that the idiotic administration of CBS would, and I also believe that they would lie to make those who don't support this traitorous bill feel helpless.

FYI the statistics you could not find.
These national telephone surveys of 800 Likely Voters was conducted by Rasmussen Reports May 9-10 and May 21-22, 2007. The margin of sampling error for each survey is +/- 4 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. - Reply to this comment
President Bush is currently less effective using the current law (30% in terms of prosecutions) at controlling the border than President Clinton. Much like Homeland Security's stripping of FEMA resources for the war on terror. The lax border enforcement is blamed on allocation of resources to terror initiatives. President Bush has not secured the ports or transportation in this country, has weakened border security and a new law will correct that??? The Mismanager-in-Chief needs to value competancy over friendship or politics before the enforcement of any law can be effective.- Reply to this comment
- I don't know where CBS and the New York Times did their polling but it apparently wasn't people who were against this immigration bill. From what I can gather, there are more people against any amnesty for illegal aliens then there are for. The illegals broke our laws when they sneaked into this country to begin with. Then you have all the ones who overstayed their visas. No, illegals SHOULD NOT be given amnesty because they have broken the law and should be deported as fast as they can. What we need is for Homeland Security to do their jobs which is going after the illegals. That is what they are being paid to do!!

What is it with you people. These are our neighbors who came into this country to find work so they could feed their families. They are POOR and need any work they could find. Stop with the blame for them when our boarders weren't guarded and all they needed do was walk across. Don't blame them because we didn't have the intelligence of care to see that Cheap American's were EXPLOITING them and INCOURAGING them to "Sneak" across. You Racist folks aren't ever going to change. The problem isn't in the color of their skin. The PROBLEM is in the Greed of some in THIS nation. Sieg Heil Y'all. - Reply to this comment

WOW!! This comment is so racist in itself, I don't even think it needs explaining. But to expand on that comment, it goes to what I have said in the past; people are shifting their animosity or whatever ill feelings they once had toward other groups (who are non-white), such as our fellow Black Americans (by if you have ever befriended someone I am certain they will give you as much respect as any White American), and taking those same stereotypes such as overuse of welfare, having kids just for welfare, loud, etc. and shifting them to Mexicans (but of course that is another ridiculous statement, because there are many undocumented and documented recent immigrants from other Latin Countries, as well as Chinese, Irish, and other Europeans.--Just because someone speaks Spanish that does not mean they are Mexican!!)
Get your facts straight and understand your family also came to this country at some point and now you are here and now you are American!! - Under no circumstances should we allow illegal aliens, who have broken our law and violated our national sovereignty, to become US citizens unless they GO HOME and make legal application, GET IN LINE, and wait for their chance to come back legally! We don't need these lawbreakers and certainly shouldn't be pandering to them, as the Senate is busy doing. YOU ARE CRIMINALS---GO HOME!!!!

Yeah!! I'm all for it too! I think it's time for you people to get the results of what you wish for. It's a shame the illegals don't just voluntarily stop doing all your dirty low paying, no benefit jobs. Because I'd like to see your rear end right out there doing the work instead.
