tuckerndfw -- great to read your comments as always (very astute observer of the political spectrum).
Be on the lookout for downtownvampires.com, coming up shortly, which will dabble with a bit of political commentary.
Also, my best to the people of Dallas, who were apparently the experimenters of mother nature at her worst these past few days.
From all the political candidates out there, perhaps Tommy Thompsom gets my attention, a kind of no-nonsense kind of man, a ocmmon sense leader if you wiil. What do you think?
Keep it coming.

The president is primarily a salesman. His primary role is promoting an agenda (selling it to the American public and world at large).

Presumably, the agenda he attempts to sell is based on public opinion as reflected in other elections. But, is actually determined by who contributes the most money to the presidential campaign. Which is why it is important to pay attention to where a politician gets his (financial) support.

It is highly unlikely that a "stateman" will ever be elected in the US. Voters do not want candidates who tell the truth (Jimmy Carter), voters want candidates who lie and tell jokes (Ronald Reagan, Bill Clinton). Voters prefer entertainment to substance.

Texarkana, Texas is closer to Chicago, Illinois than it is to El Paso, Texas.

"Texan" has no single meaning. Most Texans currently live in cities or suburbs and are no longer the "rugged cowboy" depicted in movies.

Thanks for your kind words.

I am a casual visitor to this website. I tend to spend my time on political issues. Most of the boards on which I participate are heavily infested with trolls, so it can be hard to find my comments unless you are willing to read through page after page of troll drivel.

Horses are kind of like people. There are all kinds.

The one trait shared by most all animals, including horses & cows, is they tend to be very skittish. Which sometimes leads to people unfamiliar with animals getting hurt.

Since comparing Republicans vs. Democrats is an argument which never goes anywhere,
let%u2019s instead compare Democrat vs. Democrat..%u2026
let%u2019s say Clinton(s) vs. J.F. Kennedy.

The Clintons and current Democrat philosophy on governing/government is:

%u201CBig Government will provide for you%u201D, &
%u201CFrom cradle to grave, Big Government will take care of you%u201D, &
%u201CIt takes a Village%u201D (Big Government)

Whereas J.F. Kennedy said :
%u201CAsk NOT what your country can do for you, but rather what YOU can do for your country%u201D

These two philosophies (both Democrat) are completely opposite of each other.

I would much rather be a J.F. Kennedy Democrat than a Clinton Democrat.

J.F. Kennedy also instituted tax cuts on the top rates to spur a sluggish economy. (hmmmm%u2026%u2026.sounding familiar)

Sounds like the NeoCommies and MoveOn.org have hijacked a Democrat party that I once knew and respected.

But I%u2019m not a republican, so what%u2019s an average American supposed to do ??

I just stumbled across your website. No wonder CBS is failing in the ratings. Look at the quality and intellect of MOST of the readers who have posted comments. Name calling and satire gets you nowhere, unless you're Imus. La Vampire and Processor2, you put some rational thought into your posts. The others, come on. If you want to do something worthwhile, read "Atlas Shrugged". That's where we're headed.

1. Guiliani-All mouth, no substance. Male slvt with no moral compass.

2. Romney-LOL!! Believes deeply that scripture was revealed to his 'prophet' (Joe Smith) by a 'talking white salamander'!! Can't decide from day to day where he stands on issues!!

3. McCain-Body armor, 20 armed humvees, attack helicopters, 150 armed body guards... "It's really safe here on the streets of Baghdad". What a joke this guy has become!!

The parade of republican candidates is looking like a homecoming for the 'Seven Dwarfs'. LMAO!!

I am just waiting for evil Rudy to name the oh so honest Bernie Kerik as his VP choice. We are going from bad to worse. The Republicon(artists) have done such an outstanding job of exposing their vile corrupt nature that they have zero chance of being a dynamic in US politics for a very long time. (Way to go Facist Karl Rove.)
The country still has too many rednecks for Hillary or Obama.
Smart money says Edwards is it.

Giuliani once said as he walking down some street near one of the Twin Towers, on 11 September 2001, "we were told that tower number one [or two] is going to come down so we have to evacuate," or something along those lines. What did Giuliani know before the towers were pulled?
Interesting. . .
tuckerndfw you know about this?
Does anybody remember what was going on that day, right before tower number 7 was pulled?

This poll is like asking the Americans:
What Hamburger outlet do you prefer? A&W, Wendy's, Mandy's or Sandy's? whithout including Burger King or McDonald's.

Seriously, It's comforting to see that such republicons have no such chance to beat the Democratics such as Obama and Clinton...

tuckerndfw -- I enjoy reading your comments, and I have been through Texas on a few occasions -- much land, so incredibly large, and I am a fan of Giant, the James Dean movie.
Moreover, with regard to our current day aspirants for the big job, I cannot stress enough the level of mediocrity, apathy, and perhaps innocence, to a certain extent, that runs rampant among these individuals. Dwight Eisenhower, John F. Kennedy, Bobby Kennedy, and even Ronald Reagan would have had a monster moment with these juveniles.
The presidency requires fortitude, vision, valor, and a certain tradition that runs down the lineage beginning with George Washington. We as Americans know greatness when we see it, hear it, feel it, and these individuals who now hunt for our attention lack that greatness we certainly need. I do not need a president to run my life or to put food on my table, just like you men and women of Texas, but we do need a leader that can best represent me on the world stage. Think of the president as the individual that enables us and not disables us.
keep it coming tuckerndfw, and let me know where you go on this site.

"Among the relatively small number of Democrats who want more candidate choices, most also cannot name someone specific they'd like to get into the race. Those who were mentioned most often include former presidential candidates Al Gore and Bill Bradley, and even former President Bill Clinton, who is ineligible to run again. "

Yes, the Democratic base are real geniuses. They want Bill Clinton to run for president. They don't understand that he can't run again. That is a little difficult for Al Sharpton's supporters. Yes, the Democrats polled thought Bill Clinton would make a good candidate. They would like to vote for him. Such are the geniuses, the Democratic base. It makes a Hillary Clinton presidency seem possible. Never underestimate the sheer stupidity and short attention span and tiny little crack-fueled brains of the American electorate.
