realpatriot1: I agree with you and very well said. It's not about retreating - it's about drawing down troups and increasing diplomacy. That is the only way I see we can extract ourselves from this mess.

Dawgfan, you are a liar and a moron. Making things up does not make them true.

Saddam killed at most 100,000 of his own people, and 35,000 of those were at one swipe with US made chemical weapons. He could have killed none of them had we not backed his rise to power as a balance against Iran, so in a large sense we are responsible for that.

And just to give a little perspective, estimates are that roughly 500,000 Iraqis were killed in the first gulf war.

Furthermore, the democrats voted for the war because they were lied to by their commander in chief. Now that they know the truth, they have changed their minds. To do otherwise would be insanity.

Finally, the boundaries of presidential power are clearly set out in the Constitution, and Bush has stretched and violated them beyond all recognition. He has tried to make himself a dictator, and idiotic lockstep fascists like yourself support that effort.

As for my "wetting the bed", I am probably older and certainly both more intelligent and more mature than you.

Iceman I sai the insurgents were supported by Iran. Not Iraq's Govenment. Learn to read the whole thing boy. Not your idiotic interpretation of it.

The government is supported by the U S of A. that should more than balance Iran's support for the other side.

Go back to the pound, dawg. You had your chance.

Let someone else answer it.

to all bush hating anti-war americans.

don't argue with these republican snake, war supporting, phony christian creeps.

they're all from the south and are all redneck, confederate left overs from the slave days.

the last bastion of bush supporters in the south is about to go down...

along with their great leader, bush.

america's getting a good look at these bush loving dixie freaks...

and they don't like what they see.

ha,ha,ha.

nothing good comes out of the south!

Since dawgfan76 cut and ran from the question, maybe somebody else would like to answer it ?

Here it is again:

still want to know why the insurgents will automatically win in a year if we set that as a deadline.

If the government has U.S. training, arms and financial support, and the full support of most of the Iraqi people, and a year to get ready, shouldn't they walk over the insurgents then ?

The insurgents are not General Rommel and the armored Panzers divisons of the Wehrmacht, with massive air support.

They are mangey "suiciders" (Bush's term for them), "a few deadenders" (Rumsfeld) who are "losing steam" (Condi Rice.)

So why will they win when we leave ? Anyone ?

How do you explain that when Clinton was in office, we had peace and a budget surplus, while after 6 years of Bush and the Republicans controlling government, we are at war and in massive debt? Is that "democratic incompetence" as well?

You finger-pointing jackass.

"jimibear doesn't remember Sept. 11, 2001
Posted by dawgfan76 at 02:10 PM : Mar 28, 2007"

Yes, I do. I remember that it took the Bush administration's incompetence (or complicity?) to allow it to happen. And even if I wanted to, I couldn't forget it, because every time Bush wants to do something stupid and wrong, he uses it as an excuse.

"....jimibear is a highly contaminated liberal liar......(just look at what he writes) he's part of the new "liberal hate" in America today. Sad individual indeed........ "

And yo uare an ignoramus. As I have said here many times, I'm not a liberal; I am a conservative who has been turned agains the Republican party by the despicable cretins who have hijacked it.

And my knowing (a lot) more than you and being able to frame my position better than you does not make me a liar, perception5. It makes you stupid and ignorant.

That vessel was an Indian ship containing cars thought to be smuggled. Get your facts straight Jimibear before making a moronic point.
