whatithink,

Re: "We can't win because there is nothing for us to win. We started an illegal war against a sovereign nation. We lost the moment we did this."

Excellent point. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

dgayres....maybe you could sent the same post a few more times.

If you aren't asking questions about military tactics that have made little progress in FOUR YEARS, then you aren't paying attention.

Didntinhale,,,,
, Kumbiah ?? LOL -- Our generals even republicans are echoing Iraq cannot be won with military might, it's a political solution --
- As it was before we invaded, a political solution,,, This war was not necessary at all, & not at all argumentive,,
, Listening to Hadley our National Security Advisor today,,, He's still saying we are winning & everything is rosey in Iraq.

Didntinhale,,,

There you go with the rhetoric again,,, We didn't defeat or mop up the Taliban, they are back in force and we are close to losing Afaganistan as a result... Karzi is still just the mayor of Kabul, & ripping us off at the same time... And we didn't defeat Sadam's army, we disolved it to our great disadvantage.

Reporter Scott Pelley seems to have lost his mind. I was thoroughly appalled at the way he interviewed Staff Sgt. Frank Weterich on 60 minutes. Who the hell is he to question military tactics in a war zone. Do we honestly think war is the time and place to ask questions first? No doubt everyone sees the aftermath of this situation as tragic and I am sure no one sees that more clearly than the soldiers involved. They are the ones who will be living with this tragedy long after the rest of us have gone on about our lives. If they had reacted any other way those Marines would have been just another statistic that few reporters would have given a second thought to.

Civilians die during war time but a whole lot less of them are dying since Saddam was taken out of power.

Pelley you are one rude and arrogant s.o.b.

Gotta go, it's good talking to you, please stay away from the GOP rhetoric,, It's just as wrong now as it was in Viet Nam.

Get off the cut & run thing, it's BS & hurts our troops & emboldens the enemy,,,, Look at it this way,, Redeploy to actually fight terrorists or bring them home, we don't need to be fighting a Sunni Civil War for the Sunni's... We can defeat al Queda,, But not with this extended 'Stay The Course' strategy, it's failed every time... Leave Baghdad for the Iraq's to fight.

Incidently, the GOP also told us pulling out of Viet Nam would result in mass casualties -- They where wrong.

What are we doing in a war that isn't winnable ??? -
- People should have thought about that before we went in, I did..
. Then we went in without sufficient troops to hold the ground we took, lost most of our coalition & wasted billions & extended tax cuts, privitized a lot of our military (Which hurt our military), & used 10 year old evidence & even contrived some... In the process we destroyed years & years of efforts to stabilize the region, & damaged our National Security... Now we resort to employing radical Sunni militants.

Didntinhale,,, In the 1st place don't call me a Christian I have given that up years ago, I've got respect for history, cultures & thier people & no longer want to spin it..
-- "im not for one second suggesting that the war is actually winable" -- That's probably the most important thing people don't look at... I'm glad your looking at that.

Didntinhale,,, Today Iraq, tomorrow the world right ?? -- Hitler tried that, it didn't work too well, he even had support of Prescot Bush & other great Americans & his military was larger than ours.

Didntinhale,,, Then you are indeed a part of the problem.. Killing masses of people will never solve the issues.. It's been that way for 2,000 years & hasn't solved 1 dam problem, has it ?? --- That's right I forgot,,, You are among the few in our nation that thinks Democracy can be forced with strong military actions.

It's not really that suprising,,, Our Christians managed to change Jesus's culture also from Jew to American Christian, then turned him into a God.
