Polls: War Has Been Longer, Bloodier Than Americans Expected; Most Favor Troop Pullout
- The surge is working, so they tell us. Only one bomb hit, so they tell us. The democrats approved the funds for continuing the war. The people march, but congress gives lip service. On July 14th it's Bastille Day where the commoners stormed the palace. When will we storm the palace?
In NYC the guy gets shot 51 times and two cops get indicted for manslaughter. Yet, we know the whole country will riot when the verdict is read. People will get hurt and die and be frightened and looted as a result of the police brutality.
So why don't we hold the mayor and the police commissioner accountable now for not training their troops in how to deal with people and not be so trigger happy? The leaders should be held accountable there and put on trial and face the death penalty. So too in this case all of the legislators, congress, the Senators and the executives, should be put on trial for mass murder just as Hitler was and be executed for what they are doing. What's the difference? They are not protecting us. They are inciting others to hate us. The will of the people is not what they are doing. It is their will that they are doing for their own evil and we don%u2019t want the devil any where near us. - Reply to this comment
- Truth's Victory
But today I can reveal to you a simple and powerful truth.
A tyrant's only ally is fear.
Just as in a fairytale where the villain cannot exist unless you believe in it, tyranny cannot exist unless you fear it.
Whether fear of personal oppression or phantom enemies presented by the state, terror must be maintained or the cohesion of authoritarian control always disintegrates.
And so today I say to you that the way to victory is easy.
Just stand up and fight.
Unlike our founding fathers, we are not asked to forge towards the defeat of some implacable enemy through fields and valleys awash with filth and blood. We are not asked to leave our homes, our land, and our families on an almost certainly fatal journey with little hope of return. And we are not asked to die the brutal and agonizing death of so many anonymous patriots, whose last anguished cry was freedom, alone on some cold and desolate battlefield.
No my friends, all we are asked to do is stand up and fight with our voices and our unaltered votes.
My fellow citizens, the truth is that the Constitution fails to defend itself, enduring only in the brave hearts of those who would uphold it.

- Iraq is like that black hole in outer space consuming our national treasure with nothing to show for it! What about the cost? Iraq is killing the U.S. current and future treasury too! How do we pay for this? The U.S. is spending billions of dollars in Iraq like its play money, these are real dollars and our kids will be paying for Iraq for decades to come! The U.S. is fighting in Iraq and paying for the war with credit cards!

- The biggest problem with Iraq is that the U.S. is for the most part there all by itself, no disrespect to other nations sacrificing, but the contributions of the other nations in Iraq is small compared to the U.S. and most that are there now are leaving and placing an even bigger burden on the U.S.! The fuel for the enemy is that the enemny knows the U.S. public does not support this war! The U.S. also needs to stop assuming the enemy doesn't read the news or the polls! The U.S. can not and should not fight in Iraq all by itself! The U.S. needs help in IRAQ on the ground, its too much of a burden to bear alone. Its not about aiding and abeiting the enemy, I've very patriotic, its about common sense too!

- Stop complaining about IRAQ war!!
You should be very gratefull to mr.bush administration.
Because no IRAQ war means a broken US economy.
Read the history.
the nations that invaded more and killed a lot was more successfull and rich.
At least part of the money you guys spend in US is come from IRAQ revenue.
So you should be happy that you get more money and have a comfortable life with enaough food and a luxury life.
Forget about those IRAQ chldren and women that dies. who care?!
And who cares about soldiers they supposed to fight and die! They are just like pawns. - Reply to this comment

My friends, sometimes the most difficult thing about fighting evil is realizing that it actually exists, and then unambiguously and forcefully calling it what it is.
History shows time and time again that one of evils greatest strengths is its ability to disguise itself as good, or at least a temporary necessity, until that last fatal moment when its revelation becomes clear, indisputable, and inescapable.
So today let us take a clear and unadulterated look into the mirror at ourselves.
Just six years ago we were one of the most respected and admired defenders of democracy and human rights in history. Respected not only by our friends, but even begrudgingly by most of our enemies. In fact, even the fantastic power of our military paled in comparison to the overwhelming might of our moral authority.
Today we are a nation that operates secret prisons occupied by anonymous inmates, illegally abducted and held indefinitely without charge or representation. We are guilty of torture. We are guilty of murder. We are guilty of preemptive war of conquest. We are guilty of the wholesale surveillance of our population, suppressing all hope of privacy and free dissent. And we are guilty of disgracing our nation through the abandonment of even our most basic precepts of morality.
If this is not evil, then nothing we have ever fought against is evil, and nothing we have ever fought for is good.

- The last I heard, 20 cents out of every dollar we spend on gas goes to the country that raised the terrorists who attacked us: Saudi Arabia. The public schools there teach kids that the surest way to heaven is to kill Jews and Americans.
We already have the technology to run our cars on our farm crops. George Washington Carver (http://inventors.about.com/library/weekly/aa041897.htm) told Henry Ford in the twenties that we needed to run our cars on farm crops, and Ford's choice of running cars on dead dinosaurs doomed us to our current fate. - Reply to this comment

- By ignoring the will of the American people in the last election to get out of Iraq, the Bush administration has effectively killed the Republican party! The only way Republicans can survive is if terrorist attack the U.S. again. The 2008 Presidential election will be another blood bath for Republicans! The American people are left with the uncomfortable feeling that they need to completely clean house of all Republicans anywhere in government to make absolutely sure they are heard this time. Barring a stupid terrorist attack on the U.S., the Republican Party is effectively dead. The terrorist have already won and the next U.S. election will clearly demonstrate that. All the terrorist need to do now is sit back and enjoy their victory! As the next U.S. election nears, the war in Iraq will start to look like a giant coffin for the Republican Party and that Iraq coffin will be large enough and have enough room for all elected Republicans to fit into!! In the end its all about the will of the American people, and that will will be expressed even louder in voting booths all across America!

- The question to ask yourself, why is Democracy founded upon from the barrel of a gun? If negotiations are working with N. Korea, and were successful with Libya, why the idea of invasion and becoming occupiers in Iraq.
We are in Iraq to keep Iran out now? The story keeps changing from yesteryear to today. First it was to end terrorism, then it was to bring democracy, now it is turning into Iran.
Certainly 911 was not the cause of the War. Those people in foreign countries did not do it. In fact it was the biggest bank robbery in US history. Up to this date in time over 30 billion in gold, money, and securities are missing.
There is a real sinister thing happening in which our own government committed 911 to steal the money, and then to go and invade Iraq. Afghanistan was a stepping stone to support the lie of binLadin. I think this will end when President Bush and Cheney are impeached and put in jail. Democrats must cut funding to the troops. - Reply to this comment

Interesting - but wrong.
Firstly, when did Saddam attack us? What was his involvement in 9/11? Even Bush has come clean and stated that Saddam had no involvement.
Secondly, what happens when we "kill innocent citizens of their country who were just going to work one day."
Does that give them justification to invade America? To kill Americans?
It could be argued that that is what we have done in Iraq, so by your comments, they have the right to take the war to American soil if they want.
Thirdly, most of the 9/11 hijackers were Saudi Arabians. When does the invasion of Saudi Arabia begin?
Oh, that's right, they bought the Bush family a long time ago, so they have nothing to fear.
Finally, your comment, "we had better go both barrels take no prisoners", well, isn't that what the "terrorists" do?
So, by your own words, you want the United States to become the terrorist.
Hmmmm, a bit late I think - Bush's "New Order" has already turned us into that. - Reply to this comment

Interesting link.
I couldn't help but notice that Saudi Arabia was mentioned numerous times throughout that page.
And when you take into account the 9/11 Saudi Arabian connection, Bush really did invade the wrong country.
But then, he's never been able to do anything right. - Reply to this comment
