Twenty-two years active and twenty years as a vet has given me time to watch a lot what has happened over the years. Men, do you remember the $36 pay we got twice a month? Pay scales have adjusted, as have annual budgets. Some wheels have gotten more grease at times, but overall, I think we have had a fair cut. Resources for the VA aren't always applied in the right manner, but don't blame this or any particular administration for what we, ourselves, have let occur.

We Veterans need to keep asking the question Max Cleland gave Wolf Blitzer, when asked about the remarks Cheney gave concerning our attempts to bring this "meatgrinder of a war" to a close, as something worse than treason; " Where The Hell Were YOU,During Vietnam??"

Check it out on CNN'S " Wolfie Show, from yesterday, 03/12/2007, and pass it on!!!!!

I'm really amazed that anyone is at all surprised with these "revelations".

Cuts in Veteran's funding have been the topic of stories during almost every budget plan this heartless and greedy administration has put forth, and promptly ok'd by the rubber stamp Republican congress.. where was all the protest then.?

The military and Neocon Republicans discard disabled vets like so much trash.. No wonder the military is having a hard time recruiting..

Bush's approval ratings are inching up due to flip-flopping Republicans. Pity those who try to buck their own political party, the threats get pretty ugly when one of the its own members steps off the GOP line.

"The increase is due almost entirely to an uptick in approval among Republicans"

For all those who think that veteran health care will suddenly change due to this onslaught of publicity and subsequent hand-wringing and finger pointing, don't get your hopes up.

Congress will throw money at the problem, conduct useless dog & pony show hearings, and pass some regulations to appease the public.

After which, it will return to "business as usual" and veterans' health care funding will be cut as soon as the media spotlight shines elsewhere.

The US has been down this road more than once before and the results are always the same. Living hell for those brave young men and women who really believed the nonsense they were told before they became human vegetables, discarded and ignored once they become a taxpayer liability.

There have been a series of articles describing poisioning of our troops by Depleted Uranium.

Will this administration support testing and care for those affected, or will they lie and deny.

Your thoughts?

Search on "Agent Orange" and you should quickly discover how the US government responds to complaints and allegations about harm caused to US soldiers and others by chemical agents used by the US military.

Personally, I think Georgie created this monster and now it's time to step up to the plate and finally atone himself and take care of these Vets....

sad to say he won't....

No bro, you're almost right. What it's time for is another Hoover town (look it up right wing as*sholes). What it's time for is a Vet's march on Washington demanding change. And I don't just mean vets of this insane war in Iraq, but vets of all wars who are still alive. How long are we going to put up with some governments scr*ewing our brothers over? Many of us are (luckily) still able to walk (OK so I'm a bit older then I'd lie), but even if those who can't want to do it then we can help them. What the hell we helped our bro's when they needed us before, why not NOW? It's time for vets to tell this as*shole in the White House that he does NOT speak for us!

Of course he doesn't do enough for vets because he's not really one. All he did was fly a bar stool for a few years in the Texas Air Guard. He hasn't the slightest concept of what it means to be a veteran or he wouldn't be sending our troops off to die in Iraq for the profit of him and his friends. That is all this war is, a for profit criminal enterprise with Bush and Cheney as the lead criminals. He cares no more about the troops then a master cares about his slaves. He is more then happy to spill their blood, there or here, for profit. He is NOT an American.
