Dick Meyer: Thoughts On Building Up And Tearing Down Celebrities
- I agree with Darkhorse...it's about time we start boycotting the media groups that bow down to hypocrits like Sharpton and Jackson. I too have removed CBS from my Dish guide.

- Don Imus will pull himself up by the bootstraps and I will follow him. When the news cycle suck all the information and collect all the ad dollars that this story creates, Don will be back. You spinless *** at CBS and NBC are now deleted from my TV.

- It is about time we wake up and realize that racism is a two way street. Where is the outcry whenever black comedians say racist comments about white america, where is the outcry when rap artist make extremely sexist albums, where is the outcry when the Sharptons and Jacksons of the world make racist statements?
There will always be racism issues as long as there are two different standards. - Reply to this comment
- I have never wrote to a national news/radio co. and I am not a racist - however this *** with IMUS is unbelievable! I wish 1/2 the pompus ***** that has critized him gave a 10th of what he has back to the nation. I don't believe in racidal slurs, but get real or grow up - if that is the worst they here they will be lucky! It's a sad day when that is all the 'news' has to offer. What's Anna Nicole story is dying? I really miss IMUS on our local radio - I have absolutely no intention of ever listing to MSMBC or CBS news again. When you can focus on 'what really is news' well maybe .........no I doubt it, I'll tune in.

- Imus made an error and he knows it. He's apologized many times for making his crude comments and I am sure he has learned a very hard lesson. Now, it is time for Sharpton to apologize for his crude comments about the Duke LaCrosse players. Now, if Imus had said something similiar about white people or Jewish people nothing would have been said.

- The co-owner of the basketball team is also co-owner of BET? Oh Lordy, the Pharisees have won the day. Now that Imus has been chastized we can all go back to the clean, loving, and kind programming in the media. Hypocrisy mmmmmmmmmmm, not among us now is it?

- There is an obvious double standard in our society. African Americans are the only ones who are allowed to make these types of comments and anyone other than them are considered racist. CBS was wrong for firing him and are continuing the allow this double standard to exist. On "Today" Rev. Sharpton was speechless when Meredith Vieria asked him about this double standard. That just shows the real problem. CBS caved in and are just making the real problem worse.

- CBS caved under pressure from the likes of Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson. You people ought to be ashamed of yourselves. Here you are with corporate jobs the rest of us could only dream about, and you are worms like the little guy who works at the local hardware store. Are you never going to stop giving in to the black minority? We have let them push us around since the 1050's and it continues today. Don Imus is only a pawn in the Black America world. He did nothing that these people who yell "racism" don't do. This double standard is sickening. And what's worse, it will continue until a large corporation like CBS finally has the gumption to say "ENOUGH!!!" And cease being pushed around by Blacks in power. Don Imus is the one to pay the price for your not having the gumption to stop this kind of behavior.

- What Imus said was stupid! Rappers use the same term as Imus did, it seems, in all their songs. So, is it acceptable for them but not for someone like Imus? Was firing him the right thing to do? No way! This is not about race, it%u2019s all about greed! CBS pulled the plug (just like MSNBC), because of money, nothing more. The Rutgers team deserves an apology, which they will get next Tuesday from Imus. It%u2019s time to move on!
Too bad the I-Man made the mistake of appearing on Sharpton%u2019s show (not sure why he would even agree to that, considering Sharpton%u2019s dubious past?) which only made a bad situation worse. This was the beginning of the end for Imus. Radio and TV won%u2019t be the same without the I-Man, who along with his lovely wife Deirdre, do so much not only for charity, but for our great country as well.
Imus, you%u2019re a great American! See you soon on another radio station%u2026 - Reply to this comment
