ILLEGALS WILL NOT GET ANY BENEFITS AT ALL WITHOUT LEGAL STATUS IN OUR COUNTRY 4. THERE WILL BE NO AMNESTY FOR ILLEGALS 5. ILLEGALS MUST FOLLOW OUR LAWS
The Legislative Branch has not worked in a long time. Very few of our legislators or their staffs have any interest in truly looking at and solving the myriad of problems facing our country or the world. They are much more interested in making inflammatory speeches, placating donors, and passing the buck. Getting re-elected is their one and only goal in life.I haven't given up on our form of government, but certainly find myself being cynical and disillusioned.
We all lost on this one. We need to establish a new Ellis Island in the southwest where new immigrants can come, register, and get proper documentation which can not be forged. Anyone who is caught without this documentation should be dealt with harshly as they would be illegal. This would help companies identify who can be hired and who is illegal. This process us extremely difficult without current assistance from Social Security.
i have always thought highly of your shows, both Face the Nation and also when you did the nightly newscast. i now have to take exception to your commentary of Jul. 1,2007 re: the failure of the immigration bill. when you stated we need "highly educated foreign born specialists" my question is why dont we have our own? if higher education was affordable to our children and student loans did not have such high interest rate so the average student could afford an education,we might have our own "specialialists". i dont see any reason for visas for high tech jobs that we should be training our own for. even with this opinion of mine now, i still think you are one of the most respected journalists along with bill moyers and lou dobbs.

The employers of illegal immigrants will not be penalized in any way, shape, or form, for violating laws against hiring illegal immigrants. Even greedy banks and financial institutions will be allowed to put profits ahead of what is right for the LEGAL American citizens; to turn a profit from those people who are not here legally. Yes, greed, corruption, and lining one's pockets with profits at taxpayer's expense, will be more important than obeying the immigration laws of the U. S. Its way past the time the Federal Government enforce its immigration laws, and stop this unncecessary drain on its LEGAL citizen taxpayers, once and for all time.
