Bob Schieffer Wonders Why No One Can Remember What Happened To The U.S. Attorneys
- processor2, A repost just for you:
You must go to bed each night thanking God for Bill Clinton.
When all one has for ammunition are blanks they try to get the loudest they can find and just keep on firing regardless of relevancy. .
Perhaps you should post in all capital letters in your comments they may come across a little louder. - Reply to this comment
- processor2,
And one more thing. You've made the claim that you are not a Republican and that you have made posts that have pissed off the left and the right on these blogs. And while I have no reason to doubt what you claim here is true, in this instance and in most posts I've seen from you, you seem to be drinking the Kool-Aid with the best of them. Now I can't possibly know whether or not you have that steady stream of Hannity, Limbaugh, O'Rielly and FOX News constantly going, but for the love of Pete, please use your critical thinking skills (and that goes for the rest of you waiting at the punch bowl)!
Bill Clinton may have fired all 93 U.S. Attorneys upon assuming office. BUT SO DID GEORGE W. BUSH! They ALL do! It is a standard practice when a new president assumes office. So please! I'm sick of this broken Clinton record!
And I AM an independent voter. I've just been radicalized by the buffoon currently occupying the White House. - Reply to this comment
- processor,
I don't know why I keep having to reiterate this, but here goes:
All eight of these U.S. Attorneys are Bush appointees. All are Republican. George W. Bush appointed all new prosecutors upon assuming office, just like Bill Clinton, George H. W. Bush, Ronald Reagan.... This happens with each new president. The difference here is that Alberto Gonzales replaced these prosecutors with interim appointments which do not have to go through confirmation in the U.S. Senate. This is due to a hidden provision in the USA PATRIOT Act. But the reason U.S. Attorneys have Senate confirmation in the first place is that it is an expression of confidence in their character and to insure that they would be free from partisan service.
This is an effort to replace these prosecutors with Rovian hacks who will skirt the law and the ethical boundaries to the detriment of our civil liberties. If you're not outraged by this, you're not paying attention. - Reply to this comment
- By the way, yes Clinton did fire all the attorneys when he took office, all 93. It was his right as the new President to do so, but he didn't fire them because they weren't investigating the Republicans hard enough, he fired them all because they were Republicans. Was he right, probably not, but as the standing President he was with in his power to do so. On the other hand, Bush fired them all because of their either not investigating Democrats hard enough, or because they put Republicans behind bars. Some were even Republicans, unfortunately for they weren't neo-con boot kissers.

Your must have been on that boat with j02281, for your information, there was no such law as there is now for firing attorneys, it was not implemented until after the second Patriot Act was passed. A law passed and signed by a neo-con majority, and President. You got to find another angle, because just spewing off at the mouth only shows how stupid one is. Of course no doubt, thats what Rush and Pat Robertson said, and no doubt you heard it on Fox.

What banana boat did you just get off of? You sure you know the meanings to those words you used?
"I can not believe how many americans hate our
Country. Well go to hell. TV Stations use their
money to destroy confidence, moral, faith in our
institutions. Worse, they are destroying the
future of our children. They love lesbians,***
traitors, liberals, and enemies of our way of life."
Whose way of life you talking about? We know who the traitor is, and he's in the White House? Is being born a problem with you, some people just aren't the same as you all perfect and such. You been watching to much Fox TV, and listening to Rush, and Pat Robertson to long. Take a break, and read a book or too. Your a way to paranoid, and homophobic to boot.
I bet you look under the bed at night before you go to bed to make sure there isn't no ghost there.

Were you this upset when Clinton fired attorneys???
If Clinton firing attorneys didn't upset you, then Bush firing attorneys shouldn't upset you either.
Why the double standard ???? Were you this upset when Clinton fired attorneys ???? Hmmmmm????
But then "double standard" is one of the definitions of Liberalism.

- Ok, my fellow citizens, WHAT is the next common-sense step to put an end to all of the bushwa that we keep reading, hearing, watching, and discussing, re the terrible state of affairs in which we're now embroiled? I know, I know, that common sense is in very short supply, no one seems to find any, in the halls of Congress,it's AWOL from the White House, and the inmates have the keys to the asylum, but there MUST BE a means to recovering some semblance of sanity in the upper reaches of these Executive, Legislative, and Judicial Branches of our government.
From my limited study and knowledge of Civics, Government, American History, Ethics,Political Science, Mathematics, Physics, World History, travels and studies in other nations and cultures, (I had to stop and work/raise a family also) is it unreasonable to inquire if there IS truly a method/system to right this listing ship of state, government, and nation?? Let's not all speak up at once, but there seems to be just NOISE, thunder/lightning, but NO true answers to the solution of this problem.
Any GOOD, and reasonable answers, anyone?? PLEASE speak up, we just might be able to stuff THIS Genie BACK into the demonic bottle it arose from!!

These lies cost the lives of 3200 American Soldiers and the maiming of 25,000 others also the deaths of over 300,000 civilians. 363 Tons of money were delivered to Iraq on pallets along with the expenditures of 500 billion dollars of American Tax Dollars!

- It was first used by Reagan, this convenient loss of memory strategy, in the Iran Contra affair.
No one can pin you down for perjury. Because they can't prove you lied.
And since then it's used by countless crooks and tricksters, none more so than this gang of crooks in the current WH. - Reply to this comment

- It isn't that they can't remember, it's that they can't get their stories straight. Instead of simply telling the truth, they fall all over each other trying to cover up. There is an awful sameness about these scandels. Invariably the thing that brings down the house around their ears is the lies. It used to be there were lies, *** lies and statistics. Now there are lies, *** lies and coverups.
