Football League Pulls Plug From Church Super Bowl Parties Charging Admission
- Chuches and the Super Bowl? Sure, I'm sure J*esus, having turned over tables of greedy merchants, would approve.

- All 501%u2019s (nonprofit org.) of any size have business managers. Not only for the day to day operation (accounting/auditing) but the (fed/state/local) reporting/ operation requirements to maintain their 501 status.
If you believe that your favorite 501 (whatever that may be) spends all the money you send it on its stated goal your opp. of your self is correct. - Reply to this comment
- "Why would a church need a business manager? Would the person in charge of the church's financial affairs be called a pastor/priest/etc"

If you would do some research before you made an ignorant comment like this you would know. Churches need people to keep track of the finances, some use accountants, some call them administrators, some call them business managers, etc.etc. There is a lot of business that a church has to deal with other than assisting the needy. Churches must pay utility bills, pay the salaries for the hired workers (hired by the church membership, who pay the tithes) and ensuring the money gets to the appropriate areas that they are supposed to Even the business managers have oversight of the expenditure of funds by the congregation. I am not saying all churches are perfect.
So if you don't want to give money to the church, that is your business, but don't slam on people that do. - Reply to this comment
- "The church planned to charge a small admission fee to raise money for its youth mission activities."
"We felt like we were offering a wholesome environment for the youth," "We were, frankly, pretty shocked."

- "'It's just a good opportunity to get everybody together, have some fellowship and fun and watch the Super Bowl,' business manager Bill Kaler said."
What really shocks me about this quote is that this church had a business manager.
Why would a church need a business manager? Would the person in charge of the church's financial affairs be called a pastor/priest/etc
Just what is this church doing with the collection money?
I must be incredibly naive to believe that the money I give to my church goes to help the needy. - Reply to this comment
- CBSNews has a little problem - if they did the slightest research before starting this little forum, they'd know they need a 24/7 moderator who can delete stupidity like that below.

How does your proposal solve their sexual abuse problems? Isn't that more important than a football game? - Reply to this comment
- One way for churches to keep the rules MIGHT be for them to have a sports night once a month and then the super bowl becomes part of their regular sports ministry; and they wouldnt need to officially advertise the super bowl word. They MIGHT also be able to make watching the game free of charge (for any who would just want to do that) charge a cover for the food (for whoever wanted to do that) and then take up an offering to help offset the facility's overhead costs. Im not a lawyer, but there are usually technicalities around any law for those who are smart. Remember, the laws of man are only imperfect words (and thus have loop holes) whereas the laws of God are eternal principles, and much more than words.

Are you unfamiliar with the Catholics, the Lutherans, Baptists, Mormons, etc?
Re: "The Christ Himself told us to watch out for these false prophets and told us how to recognise them."
Will any of them be Chimp-like, dry-drunk, frat-boy punks, or will any be seen shooting people in the face with a shotgun?

- Excerpted from the story:
"It's just a good opportunity to get everybody together, have some fellowship and fun and watch the Super Bowl," business manager Bill Kaler said.
"I didn't realize the Super Bowl was a copyrighted thing," Kaler said.
============
Mr. Kaler's title is "business manager" and he claims he did not know the Superbowl is copyrighted?
Is he like those preachers and priests (teachers, cops, judges, politicians, milkmen, porn stars, et al) who claim they don't know having *** with little boys & girls is inappropriate behavior?
Why would anyone turn to a church for any kind of advice or counsel? They are obviously less competent than a bum on a sidewalk.
I'll bet a bum knows the Superbowl is copyrighted. - Reply to this comment
