Joe will justifiably be remembered for what he did do in building and maintaining one of the top college football programs ever. That being said, I do not know how I would ever consider after reporting something like he did up the chain of command that I would ever allow the perpetrator to retain an office in the "sacred" football office area in "my" building.
Yes, because you have any authority to condemn someone to Hell. I think you should turn that big hypocritical looking glass back on yourself for a moment.
You know, you people that can't look past what the media has spoon fed you-you can't think for yourselves. He gave complete disclosure of what he HEARD from McQueary to his bosses and it went up the chain to the top, including the police. How could he go to the cops when they even refused to acknowledge that there was a crime done? And even the now-governor of PA knew about it an refused to prosecute. So go ahead,,,condemn an honorable man who gave his life, love and money to a great university. Jump to judgement when you don't know all the facts of the story-only what the media has told you. When it all comes out and the true scum floats to the top, I would love to meet every single one of you and ask you---what now?? He guided many young men and women, off and on the field, and they tell you that their life is better for having known Joe Paterno. Now...enough said. As he said himself--don't get into a pissing contest with a skunk. You'll both end up smelling bad. God Bless Joe Paterno, Penn State and God Bless and Thank you to his wife and family for sharing him for these many years. You are loved!
Hey Knight, the REAL trustee should be the people who put their trust in him to be more than just a football coach. It's a shame that Joe will not have to live through the trial of Sandusky and listen to the horrors he ALLOWED to happen! Hiding behind "legalities" is a cowards way out and that's what Paterno and McQueary are...cowards for all time. Who cares about their game.
If there is another 1%er out there who profits more from child labor than Knight I dare you to find one. Birds of a feather Knight, birds of a feather.
so what- if no one did a damn thing that still does not excuse mr joe paterno from what he knew. apparently he had a pretty good following if thousands of people came to his memorial, so i really think he had some power to get something done if he chose to follow through. we have a saying at my work place- if you know it- you own it!!!!! he knew it and he owned it. pn state is a haven for child molesters! shame on all of you there who are so in denial.
Joe Pa was awsome, for over 60 years he cared for young men and was an inspirational leader. The stories of his good will and works will go on for generations.
If the only thing you can cry about is that Joe did what he was supposed to do but it wasn't enough,-then shut up!Or go cure the world's evils yourself. Not your job?It wasn't his either! He was a football coach you jackwagons. And I'll bet anything you won't accomplish anything in your life that will hold a candle to the many things and many lives that were made better by this man. R.I.P. Joe.
ESAD you little piece of vomit. If he told his superiors, and the culprit still hadn't been put behind bars, then Joe Pa deserves some of the blame for not following up and asking questions. Instead, we get sports morons like you saying it was ok to protect the football program at the expense of molested children.
Apparently irony is chemically treated in the waters of Happy Valley. Having Phil Knight eulogize Paterno is on par with Ahmadinejad addressing the UN on Holocaust facts. Knights statements will be vetted appropriately by the national media and hopefully his record of employing children in sweatshops and promulgation of abusive labor practices will again be exposed.
Don't push it too hard.
It seems to me that you don't delay - he did.
It seems to me that he wasn't embarassed when he was at the center of attention at every Republican Convention.
It seems to me he didn't speak out during the horrible times in the late 80s and early 90s when there were a aeries of hate-crimes on campus.
It seems to me that the reason names were not on the jerseys is because only one name counted.

Own it. But it is too late for you to make amends.
There is NO grey area here. You go to the police and dont say AW gee i didnt really know how to handle it.
No good way or explanation out of that Jo Pa. RIH. Rest in He double toothpicks.
