- English is the universal language in business, the airline industry, and many other industries. I commend the LPGA for taking this stance. I don''''t play golf, but I''''m sick and tired of having to select an option for English or Spanish only, or having to listen to a rambling message in Spanish. Can''''t abide by the rules and regulations, too bad, so sad.

People participating in the LPGA tour are NOT applying for US Citizen ship! They are participating in a sporting event! It''s one thing for the LPGA to encourage speaking English, or offering courses in English, but to require it in order to play is both insulting and counterproductive! - Reply to this comment

- Imagine if China said all foreign athletes participating in the Olympic Games had to speak Chinese fluently enough to answer questions from sponsors or journalists! We would be outraged! This ruling is just as arrogant , and shows this country is becoming isolationist and xenophobic!

The "L" in LPGA stands for "Lady''s".
Some of the LPGA players are pretty.
That said. I play golf, but watching obsessive-compulsives play is about as interesting as watching paint dry. Golf is not a sport, it is a game. Any activity where you only have to interrupt your beer drinking occasionally and briefly to play is not a sport. I am looking at you bowling. - Reply to this comment

- BRAVO for LPGA, this needs to go national, in fact we need a national amendment. One of the things that makes America great is the fact we speak English. One Language, One People! If that changes, like so many money grabbing businesses want, America will suffer. Part of our Nationalization process for immigrants is to speak English. Legal Americans speak English. Illegal Aliens do not speak English. We must require English, the spoken word in all public places.

- Heck, take a look inside most any nail salon. They looka lika Asian sweat shops. Look inside Mexican restaurants. You won''t find anybody other than Mexiacns/South Americans working there. Mom and pop convenience store belong to Indians and Arabs now. They won''t hire anyone outside their ethnicity. Dry cleaners are Asian now. You don''t think there''s reverse discrimination going on? There is no reason why the LPGA can''t set this rule. It''s completely acceptable for an AMERICAN organization.

- The LPGA is a private organization and can set whatever language requirements it wants. He!!, if they decided to be racist and not allow in any Korean players at all they still would have that right. No one is forced to play in their tournaments. If players don''t like their rules then by all means boycott the LPGA and don''t play.
If you don''t agree just imagine if someone came into your house and decided that your dinner party wasn''t ethnically diverse enough? So, here''s a Nigerian and a Korean to add some balance. - This should be mandatory for the entire country -- can''''t speak English but want to live here, you have 12 months of classes you pay for to learn, no English as a Second Language or multiple language choices. No one brought you here by force -- you came here, you learn to read, write and speak English and you never get to bad mouth this country under any circumstances!

One thing doesn''t have a damm thing to do with the other. Businesses themselves opt to press one for English or 2 for Spanish. This league has nothing to do with those decisions.
That being said, I find it extremely arrogant that an organization that is international has stooped so low as to become bigoted. If I were anyone of those players, I would tell the league where they can shove their new ethnocentric rule. - Reply to this comment
