- This is preposterous.
A noose is a noose is a noose.
Next we will have guns, then knives, then automobiles, the list is endless.
Sure a noose brings back brings us historical reminders,so do mushroom clouds, swastikas and beatle haircuts, but until we live in today and let the past remain where it belongs, we will never, never progress into a "civilized" society. - Reply to this comment
- I dont consider your ignorance of other cultures a ''poor me scenario" I consider it a "Poor you Scenario"! And my son, does not use drugs, (surprise) has no children(OOO), graduated *** laude from one of the countries best research colleges( HUH???) and needs no justification or validation by you or anyone. He never saw a lyching, but he *** sure knows what it means when someone, anyone brings it up. And when white folks do it, in the alley or in the boardroom, he knows it means the same thing,"remember the good ole day''s??""

- "It smacks of tabloid journalism," Finchem said
HAHAHAHAHA.....WHAT OTHER KIND OF JOURNALISM IS THERE?
Along with audio/visual sound bites, it''s the only thing our A.D.D. ridden society can handle and respond to. LOL - Reply to this comment
- The cover should have shown the ''Reverend'' Sharpton holding the noose around poor Kelly''s neck. That is the truth of the matter. Tiger Woods does not need Sharpton to defend him. Sharpton is an embarrassment to the black community and his time would be better spent fighting BET. (Black Entertainment Television).

- You know, it seems to me that alot of people on here seem to think that racism is "over" and "nobody does that anymore" so blacks and other minorites should just "get over it" and "move on". It''s funny because it''s alway somebody NOT black or other minority saying it. Racism is still around it''s just changed it''s face. Gone (for the most part) are the days of blatant racism (ie lynch mobs, white only bathroom signs/drinking fountains etc). It has been replaced by a more subtle form such as the types of comments said by tillman and Don Imus. This is what alot (not all of course) of whites are REALLY thinking deep down, they just know now that they can''t say it in a public setting or their career will be canned. To those who think blacks should just "move on" I ask you understand what is still happening today. TODAY in 2008 there are still Neo Nazi/skinhead meeting in different areas of the country. The KKK still exists. A black guy in Texas got dragged behind a truck driven by white men until he was decapitated, his torso split, and his testicles were shredded by the pavement below him. This was not in 1898, 1938, or even 1968. This happened in 1998. Tell him to "just get over it". I agree with krenz...it''s so nice when you can just ignore it all. That''s why al sharton is hated...because he reminds you.....IT''S STILL HAPPENING.

- The more I think about it the more sense the magazine cover makes to me. It''s about someone who put a noose around her own neck, so to speak, because of an inappropiate comment she made.
The fact that the noose has been used in a racist way before doesn''t mean that every time a noose is shown that is the intent of it.
Like so many other issues Americans are becoming oversensitized and confused about it.
Like the girl who dumped me when I was a young adolescent told me before she left, "You worry too much and it drives me nuts!" - Reply to this comment
- Tilghman made a mistake, got slapped for it but should not have been fired because it was a slip of the tongue that she immediately apologized for. Seanor, knowing how inflammatory the original story was chose poorly with that magazine cover. I''m sure he can help out of his children''s school newsletter as long as he keeps a low profile.
