AS HAS BEEN SAID IN PRIOR POSTS, IT IS ALL ABOUT MONEY.

Professional sports have put so much emphasis on the money aspect that the participants have lost why they are in sports. Forget baseball remember drugs in a minor competitive sport (at least here in the US) of bicycle racing? The next one will be golf I guess.

Everybody says winning is everything but if all sports develope the atmosphere of performing at the best that you can with what you are naturally given(without drugs, without being bigger, without cheating etc) then if you win fine if not well, someone has to lose don''t they.

I personally, lost all interest in baseball many years ago when players started switching teams every year and the team I had always very felt close to, the St. Louis cardinals, ceased being %u201CStan the man%u201D Musial, Lou Brock, Curt Flood, Ken Boyer, et al, and became just %u201Cthe Cardinals%u201D because the fans had to become acquainted with a new team each year.

Stan Musial, one of the greatest baseball players of all time, played all 22 years of his major league career with the St Louis Cardinals, 1941 to 1963.
He was liked and respected by baseball fans everywhere, not just in St Louis.

I don%u2019t think Musial was ever paid much more than $100,000 for any single year, yet today even the most mediocre shortstop rakes in $ millions annually.

rukidding75,

My conclusion about this whole race problem is that it boils down to empathy or contempt. It''s really not an issue of institutions or organizations as these are all groups of people anyway. It is an issue of an individual being able to look at another individual and identify with him or her. If he or she can then he will have empathy/sympathy for the person. If he or she can''t, he will feel contempt. It is a matter of what is going on in each of our hearts and heads.

Punish the individual not on race but on ACTION...

I am being shown why I am given a bad name right before my very eyes... if there were no cards to pull there would be NONE to play... think about it!

It might be good to point out that there is a correlation between status/wealth and skin color in this country.

roger_inkart,

I tend to agree with your analysis. Also, if everyone was booing me I wouldn''t be very nice either. This report shows that the issue is really much, much bigger than Bonds. Time will tell whether others receive the same wrath. I doubt it.

The funny part is when the wrestler killed his wife and son people were still looking for redeeming qualities and blaming it on the steriods. I guess if you can blame murder on steriods you can also blame other behavior.

Steroids or not, Bonds is not like-able.

From what I''ve read, and from some personal experience with a person who doped, steroids might be one of the big reasons _why_ Bonds is such a grade A di.ckhead.

The drugs screw with your mind and soul along with your body. They make you go agro at the drop of a hat. Bonds might be a jerk anyway, but it''s possible the drugs compounded it.

It would be interesting to talk with his family and friends of Bonds (who knew pre-gianto cranium Barry) candidly and see what they thought.

I am SO glad I walked away from baseball and any other ML sports years ago. Nothing but drug addicts, murderers, criminals. The magic of the sport is GONE. Amazing records are ruined. Well, unless you count Cal Ripken. Now there is CLASS. A very rare gem in baseball. Sad, dark days, but I''m not surprised. It''s all about money now, not about the love of the game. Pathetic.

All of these was bound to happen. The reason behind is that base-ball ceased to be a sport for the people to enjoy and became a business for the money makers. As such, it became just as adulterated as all things forced down our throats by means of publicity, advertising, etc. I haven''t been buying the thing for a long time once I realized that. All of these players should be made members of another separate Hall of Fame, or maybe of a Hall of Infame!!

Sure there is injustice in this world. Hoewever, it seems to be based on status and wealth, not skin color. OJ got away with murder, but so did Phil Spector (so far).

As for Michael Jordan, Larry is better (or at least his equal). Look at the stats. I am not a Celtic fan either.

As for the topic here, I just shake my head (again). Why I continue to follow these rich beyond belief prima donnas, I don''t know anymore. My bad.

Here is my thing:

I feel bad for the kids and adults that look up to our MLB, NFL, NHL etc.. players as heroes... They are the ones that are let down and it doesn''t matter what race the individuals are.

People attack Bonds because he comes off as a huge Jerk. His head is way too big for his shoulders.

If he had a personality that was in the slightest bit like-able, he wouldn''t be the big target he is and would fall under the same light as all the other juicers.

Steroids or not, Bonds is not like-able.
