Or to put it another way, too bad for Barry Bonds that the accuser and the evidence against him isn"t as flimsy as it was against the Duke team.

It"s a shocking thought, but sometimes white men are actually innocent of the accusations made against them.

You know what? I read the article. The evidence is ridiculously flimsy. The accusation is perjury and the evidence is that somebody else contradicted him. That is even more flimsy than the evidence of the Duke case. When that situation at Duke University arose, I said the evidence was flimsy then, which was about the only time I agreed with the all white hate radio show hosts. I also said, they won''t get convicted because not only is the evidence flimsy, but they''re rich and white and that is all the difference. Anyone else being accused with the same flimsy evidence as is the case with Bonds, usually doesn''t even get the time of day by the rich white hate radio show hosts. Your attempt to make it something it isn''t is such excellent proof of what I am saying.

It"s a very dangerous exercise.

Every time you leg press, at least 100 people die.
-----------

I just lower the weight to stretch my back one time, after an eight count, I press it back up. This only takes about ten seconds, so only about 1.4 Americans die while I''m doing it.

The exercise is not dangerous at all from this perspective, however, because, as I said in my last post, the deaths are not caused by the exercise.

Life kills.

Pat Robertson and Madeline Albright both claim humungous records on the leg press machine. . . .

She has said she is capable of leg pressing 400 pounds." [Wikipedia]

400 lbs? Humungous?

Is there any man or woman on this blog that can''t leg press 400 pounds?

"Leg presses, however, are very effective. I use 800-1200 pounds to stretch my back when it gets tight. I can"t stretch my back as well with any of Schuler"s pet routines."

The picture and video for this story show Barry Bonds peforming a 45 degree leg press on a machine.

Kids, don"t try this at home! (You couldn"t anyway.)

This type of exercise is condemned in the recent book "The New Rules of Lifting" (by Lou Schuler and Alwyn Cosgrove) as a nonfunctional movement (it builds no useful strength) that is dangerous (back injury and blood pressure danger) as well as "too d*amned easy" ("...it"s not unusual to see guys leg pressing 1,000 pounds for reps...you get to lift a whole lot of weight without accomplishing anything useful...")
----------------------

This is the same Lou Schuler who elsewhere says don''t do the leg press machine because you don''t need to. "It is basically the deadlift movement," Schuler says. Schuler describes a deadlift as ''the single most important lift to add to your workouts.'' Sounds like saleman''s doubletalk to me; certinaly not ''new.''

Leg presses, however, are very effective. I use 800-1200 pounds to stretch my back when it gets tight. I can''t stretch my back as well with any of Schuler''s pet routines.

"Albright has mentioned her physical fitness and exercise regimen in several interviews. She has said she is capable of leg pressing 400 pounds." [Wikipedia]

(When you can Deadlift that much, Madeleine, get back to us.)

"Pat Robertson claims on his web site that through training and his "Age-Defying energy shake", he is able to leg press 2,000 pounds..." [Wikipedia]

I cannot be persuaded that Pat Robertson is five times as strong as Madeleine Albright.

[Robertson is 76, Albright a mere 70]

That should serve as evidence about how useless that sort of "weightlifting" is.
