Comments on: Dem: Tone Down the Political Rhetoric

- Why do we as a nation even give so much awe and power to a sliver of a political party that only accounts for 42 out of 435 seats in Congress and without continue to express their hatred and contempt to those who advocate for all Americans while they advocate only for those who think as they do. The rhetoric needs to be toned down and people need to at least give some credence to the teachings of the great philosopher, "do unto others as you would have them do unto you" and remember we can and should disagree and find that middle ground that makes us stronger as a nation.

- This nation is more divided now than it ever has been. When was the last time brother argued with brother? When was the last time families were politically split? Think about it people!
Obama has ushered in the most divisive and angry time in our American history. Arguing, name calling, abuse and even murder! I'm beginning to think more and more life in the EU might be at least quieter than here!
Please people, STOP. No more blame, no more arguing, JUST STOP! - Reply to this comment
- I stated what I thought was ONE of the problems, on another story. That would be guns. I said that when you grow up with guns, it changes the way you think and live.
The other problem is that the American's lives all revolve around politics. They eat, sleep and breathe politics. There isn't a story on here where someone isn't bringing politics into it, even when it has absolutely nothing at all to do with it. It's a sick obsession. The whole political system is one screwed up mess. There should not be just two parties. It's just a constant battle. There is no respect for leaders or each other. And the biggie is that it takes TWO FREAKING YEARS for an election!! Two years for people to be in a CONSTANT FRENZIED STATE!
Where I live, I don't hear anyone discussing politics. It's no one's business who is voting for who. Most people don't know who another person's party is. Our voting process takes ONE MONTH. Start to finish. We research the candidates and then go vote. No big deal. We have 5 parties. And we don't always stick with the same party. It's about who the PERSON is. What their views are. In the U.S., there is no research done on the candidates. It's about being a "REPUBLICAN" or a "DEMOCRAT". Nobody hears anything else.
I was brought up being told that it's best to not discuss politics or religion. It starts WARS! - Reply to this comment
- While it is true that there is no confirmed link at this time that the poitical rhetoric from the extreme of either side is responsible to any degree, I'm amazed on how some out there want to defend this sort of language in the first place. Threatening the lives, livelihood, safety of those who do not agree with you and going so far as to call them evil, or lesser than yourself is rude, counterproductive and as of this particular moment, in very poor taste. I think the vast majority of the nation would prefer a more civil dialogue of our differences because more is accomplished for the common good. Using hate has never ultimately served the goals of the population as a whole and usually end up with tragic events any moral, sane person would abhor. Our thoughts should be for those who have died, were wounded and their families and not about who has the better arguement for how to run this nation of varied beliefs and values. We are stronger as a nation when we realize that no single person, or political movement have all the right answers.

- This is just so foul.
I hope you animals on the far right and the far left look at how the both of you are stinking up this great country of ours with your so-called "free speech."
What you people are peddling is nothing but hate speech and the only thing that you are succeeding in doing is stirring up divisiveness and hatred. - Reply to this comment
- When we don't even tolerate the unborn, the defenseless, it's another indicator of what we have become. It wasn't just the "bomb" but all we do as a race that says "Now I am become death, destroyer of worlds".

- Gee, ya THINK politicians using violent themes in their political ads and the speeches they make to their followers might -- just maybe -- cause a schizophrenic to think it's okay to shoot people he doesn't agree with?
I"m so sick and tired of the infighting in Washington. BOTH sides. And both sides are guilty of this stupid kind of thing. I don't care how many moose Sarah Palin wants to shoot in Alaska, but she -- and every other person in politics -- can just damned well cool it with their cross-hairs ads, and their "reload" rhetoric. And yes, that goes for our President with his, "bring a knife to the fight, we'll bring a gun" talk, too.
All this total crap ever does is make Americans feel like their fellow citizens are "the enemy" so we'll fight amongst ourselves instead of paying attention to what Washington is REALLY doing. (And what they're doing are no favors for the average American.) And the sleezy commentators (Rush, Sean, Glenn, etc.) aren't worried about us, either. Inciting this crap just means better ratings so more money in their pockets.
Wake up America! Before it's too late. The people posting on this forum are not the ones you need to be worried about. It's not "leftists" or "teabaggers." We're all in this together and we're being fleeced by the very same people WE sent to Washington to represent us. They're laughing at us because we're so stupid that they can get us going at each other so we won't pay attention to what they're doing.
Before you post another comment on here, write a letter to every single Senator and Representative your district/state sent to Washington and tell them that you're thoroughly sick of this. You don't want to hear "no" again, unless they have a better idea. You want them to prove -- by their actions -- that they are more concerned about doing what's best for their constituents than they are about the size of their campaign fund for the next time they're up for election. That you want to hear what they're going to do about the problems facing our country, not just who they want to "get rid of" in Washington.
We HAVE the power to stop this. The power lies in our votes. Not sitting around posting on a news website forum. - Reply to this comment
- The true and symbolic victims of the vitriolic propaganda spread by the republican party has caused no less than the death of justice, hope, and innocence in America and an injury to freedom of speech; represented by the real-life victims of this massacre (a federal judge, a young "hope" child born on September 11, 2001 and the attempted murder of a politician). They are responsible for the political tone and behaviour in this country. Blood is on their hands.

- The attack on Democracy came from Obama and the Democrats, who went against the will of the public, with their own agenda.
Don't blame others, for what you caused. - Reply to this comment
- Ever see the program on Discovery Channel where these animal rights (leftists, not us on the right) is down in Antartica trying to stop the Japanese whalers from killing the whales by raming their ships, throwing chemicals on the Japanese crewmen onboard their ships, and generally harrasing them and committing "enviro terrorism" on the open seas. These people are terrorists.
Now, do you hear any of us screaming that the left stop their "rhetoric" about animal rights because it's causing people are doing what these animal rights people are doing on the oceans? No, we don't say anything other than they don't have the right to stop the Japanese from doing what a legitimate business who has the proper documents to harvest whales is out on the open seas earning their company profits. We don't have a problem with that, why does the left? It's because the left believes that the whales have the same rights as human's do. No, they don't. They are animals, rights are only given by God to man. God gave animals to man to eat, use, and do with as we see fit. And yes we should do all things in a responsible manner. But it's not the place of the left to tell us what that responsibilities are.
This guy yesterday obviously felt there was a problem with the way he looked at the world. If he decided that he needed to do what he did then, yes, he made the wrong decision. But if the left blames the things that Sarah Palin has said about "reload", that in no way can be declared as the thing that set this guy off. Now, let's talk about all the thousands of illegal Mexican's that the left has "set off" to commit crimes against this nation by continuing to come into our country against our sovereignty and laws, let's talk about who's "rhetoric" is affecting the largest number of people who by the way, have killed American citizens right in our own country.
How about if we start blaming Steny Hoyer for the deaths of the people who were down on that lake and were kidnapped by the Mexican's and murdered. How about that liberals. If you wanted to add up all the innocent American people who've been killed, murdered, beaten up by union thugs, etc., one example after another, year after year that the left, the liberals, the Democrats have organized, paid, incouraged, done everything short of driving up to the person's house and giving them a ride to the protest march, and some of that that ended up in violance, we can blame all that on the left, the liberals, the Democrats.
Now do you want to talk about whose rhetoric stirs up more people? And besides the point that it wasn't the things conservatives or Republican's have said at any time that caused this guy to crack yesterday. But it's more likely he was upset because of what the left have done to this country that is more likely the things that would cause anyone to freak out. - Reply to this comment
