- All you people without jobs - try to get into a government educational grant healthcare field...I garantee you that you'll have a job in two years when 23 million more Medicaid recipients start going to doctors offices and ER's with runny noses and tummy aches! The government grant will help you get by until then....I'm serious, not poking fun or sarcasm at anyone.

the CBO is now a democratic statistician?"++++++++++++++++++
No, Jimmy, the CBO is NOT a democratic statistician, and also is not the statistician to whom I was referring. This is what the CBO has to say:
The director of the Congressional Budget Office said Tuesday that the health care reform legislation would cost, over the next ten years, $115 billion more than previously thought, bringing the total cost to more than $1 trillion.
The revised figure is due to estimated costs to federal agencies to implement the new health care reform bill ? such as administrative expenses for the Internal Revenue Services and the Department of Health and Human Services -- and the costs for a "variety of grant and other program spending for which specified funding levels for one or more years are provided in the act."
CBO had originally estimated that the health care reform bill would result in a net reduction in federal deficits of $143 billion from 2010-2019; this revised number would eliminate most of that savings.
SEE THAT LAST LINE?????? Read it for me again, please. Out LOUD! - Reply to this comment
- Why does mainstream media (ie CBS) hate conservative values so much? To read the article above one would think that a bigoted, backwards, minority of Americans were interested in fixing this problem?
Apparently unlike the last time in 1994 the entire country had to SEND A MESSAGE TO CONGRESS, the current group of radical left will not wisely listen like Clinton did and move to the middle. Instead they will pretend that the unprecedented expulsion of Democrats across the country, not just at National level, but in state and even local government, somehow did not occur or is a result of mis-communication.
If CBS and other mainstream media continue to cater to this mis-guided belief, then the eventual destruction of the Democratic party is assured. As self-described conservative Republican Abe Lincoln once said, 'you cannot fool all of the people, all of the time.'
The power still resides in liberal Democrats hands for now, they still control the Senate & the Executive office. But the latest Gallup poll, and the latest election shows that the people no longer follow their lead. In the June-2010 poll more than 42% of Americans identified themselves as conservative or very conservative, while only 20% identified themselves as liberals. Follow the link for a map view, and note that it is the Republic of California vs all of the rest of us. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Conservative_Gallup_8-10.svg
So how is that bastion of Liberal beliefs whom so recently rejected all of their Republicans candidates, the 8th largest GDP in the world, doing now? Well they are currently in the process of defaulting on the projected $38.2 BILLION 2010 budget shortfall. And that is just this year, California's public debt, including that of local municipalities is probably well over $500 BILLION.
When, not if this happens, you & I as taxpayers will have to pay for their inability to not spend more than they take in. If this reminds you of the unrealistic perks and public dole abuses that occurred in Greece, then think again, at a mere $300 BILLION the Greeks are only 1/6th the size of California's bloated $1.8 TRILLION economy.
Don't worry too much about it though, it likely won't cost you directly in taxes. Instead it will just be the latest Liberal caused devastation to America and the worlds economy, finally triggering the next Great Depression, and untold misery worldwide.
But don't stop spinning the news CBS, after all nothing sells news/papers like war & disaster. Keep telling everyone that it doesn't matter what the majority of people think, it doesn't matter whether we afford high minded social programs or not, we MUST have them because the 'smartest' 20% of Americans think so. - Reply to this comment
- I've heard or read more than once that the majority of people who don't like the bill don't like it because it doesn't do enough.

- So the Republicans go ahead and get elected on cutting the deficit and creating jobs. They have plans for neither, in fact just the opposite. They are planning to repeal the health care bill which will add a $trillion to the deficit. Extending the Bush tax cuts for the rich will add another couple of $trillion. They want to continue off-shoring which will delete jobs.

- There's no point in Obama fighting repeal. The majority GOP in Congress can tie this up in red tape forever. Boehner said "There are many games that we can play"

- This healthcare bill is forever. A win in November is very poor compensation for this debacle now. ? No illusions please: This bill will not be repealed. How many votes to re-allow insurers to rescind policies when they discover a pre-existing condition? How many votes to banish 25 year olds from their parents' insurance coverage

- Two years from now, ObamaCare will place 17-23 MILLION more people on Medicaid. This will cost the Federal Goverment BILLIONS of dollars. There is no way that ObamaCare will save money.

- My health care costs are out of control even though I am in good health. Why should I pay for the young and old and sick? Because I know that the purpose of government is to make sure ALL of citizens are health and happy. On fact the US Constitution REQUIRES it.
Everyone does better when everyone does better. The problem we have with money is because of the Republicans and the filthy rich having taken all of the money from the society. Without the illegal and immoral wars and tax cuts for the rich, we would not even be worried about all this. - Reply to this comment
