- Lott's comments didn't cost him his position any more than Reid's comments will; it was the media-whipped, media-fueled firestorm for weeks thereafter that did. I still remember hearing all about "this story has legs and it's not going away" on the evening news - a self-serving, self-congratulatory, self-perpetuating liberal crusade if ever there was one. But, with Feinstein pronouncing that the matter "closed", the MSM will obediently and quietly move on.

- No Dem spoke out!! Was Obama not a Dem??
He said: "The Republican Party itself has to drive out Trent Lott. If they have to stand for something, they have to stand up and say this is not the person we want representing our party."

- Oh,, well now that one of the royal court have said the matter is closed. Let's be done with it. What an arrogant idiot. While I honestly do not think he said anything the majority of them did not say. Probably many in a more crude way. It does not however give them a free pass and it seems to me the actual voters in his state should decide if the matter is closed.

- Another example of the double standard of the media. If a Republican says something like this, condemn and demand a resignation. If a Democrats does it , it is a slip of the tongue, can be ignored and case closed. Of course when the MSM is really state run media who campaigned for Obama, then what do you expect.
