You know. Where does it all stop?

Texting while driving is soon to surpass gun violence in number of deaths or serious injuries caused. So because someone may text how about if we pass a law that outlaws text capable cell phones OR just make it illegal to transport them in a car. If they are in a car you might want to text.

Or smoking. Or dangerous sports or a number of other things that kill people.

Just where does it stop?

@but the same people don't want to regulate assault weapons.

Perhaps you missed my earlier post of current CT law since 94...

Sec. 53-202c. Possession of assault weapon prohibited. Class D felony
Sec. 53-202b. Sale or transfer of assault weapon prohibited. Class C felony

@We can't ban people.

Then who are all those people in the prisons of this country with the highest incarceration rate on the planet? They are not banned from society?

Some people want to ban firecrackers because they represent a public safety hazard...but the same people don't want to regulate assault weapons.

The nonsense that it is people not guns that are the problem is really getting old and disingenious. We can't ban people. Guns are designed to kill and to kill only. Get that?

@The only reason these guys want military weapons is because it adds to their mojo.

The only military rifles legal are ones dating back to WWII.

If our military used semi-auto guns now they would get slaughtered.

We have a serious problem in america when there are more gun dealers than grocery stores. The NRA is pushing guns like a crack dealer.

I own a handgun and that is more than enough firepower to deal with any conceivable home invasion scenario. Actually, a baseball bat would probably be equally effective. The only reason these guys want military weapons is because it adds to their mojo. They can obfuscate the underlying reason with drivel about accuracy and resisting tyrannical governments....but basically, they want to feel powerful. That is hardly sufficient justification for putting our kids at risk.

I should clarify my earlier post: MANY guns made since the 1800s are SEMI-AUTO, including most handguns.

Stop listening to all the "assault weapon" spin out there now people!

This is about banning semi-automatic guns, and only allowing civilians to own guns with centuries old technology!

The Ruger Ranch rifle my father gave me decades ago is "assault rifle" now according to them!
