When a clear majority of Americans say tax increases AND cuts are needed to hit the mark, and the GOP refuses to follow the wishes of the people, exactly who are the GOP serving?!
That is precisely the point. Are the Republicans serving the Kock brothers? Are they serving Grover Norquist? Are they serving the Tea Party? They seem to be serving an anonymous and invisible group of self appointed and self anointed so called super patriots that speak for no one but themselves. This is not democracy. - Reply to this comment
- Why should he compromise. This is what Neville Chamberlain did and the rest is history.

- Happens every time... I read the article, then look at the "comments." Every time it's obvious that those "commenting" did not read the article, or... didn't understand/comprehend the article.

- This is excatly why he can not stay as President. He is a Socialist who wants to be a Dictator.
Oh and college kids who never had a job are easy prey for this one and all liberals. Wait till they have to get a job and pay taxes and support the ones too lazy to work and get more money by having another child we must raise.
That and pay for the children of illegals who trespassed(broke our law) into out country had a child and now we support it! If parents aren't legal neither should thier children and they should not be granted citizenship because they were born here!! That way we don't have to support them.
I bet if we did that the deficit would reduce and we would have more money for the citizens who are supposed to be here. More money for welfare and education if we get rid of those parasites! - Reply to this comment
- collie61. Are you in the medical field? Obamacare is needed when you have a loved one who dies because they can get medical care because they can't afford insurance then speak to ending Obamacare. Have you read the Healthcare Reform Act...if not don't talk about.

- The economy is in the toilet and getting worse, yet Obama reaffirms his ideological intransigence.
That's all we need to know, Mr. Obama.

- The truth is there is no "balance" in the proposals put forward by Obama. Those making over $250,000 not only "built it" they also paid for the government that built the roads, schools and other projects that Obama claims made their success possible. Those Obama is redistributing wealth to have contributed little if anything. Do the math, the top 10% pay a grossly disproportionate share of income tax and therefore pay for the benefits enjoyed by the remainder. It wouldn't be so bad, except that the receipients of all this government largess still feel victimized by the system because Obama and his professional liars continue to tell them that their lot is not their fault but the fault of "the wealthy" when in fact its the wealthy that make it all possible. Putting more of the cost on those already paying risks killing the goose that lays the golden eggs.

- President Obama is the best leader the US has had in years. He strives to help the working class, he respects and defends equal rights and opportunity. President Obama knows what are the struggles of middle class and what struggles workers go through to balance their household budgets. Romney is a GOP millionaire who has never had to worry about paying rent-mortgage, utility bills and fear having to go hungry. President Obama has saved our US from sinking into the abyss of total Depression that was caused by the GOP during the Bush administration. The only reason the economy has not totally recovered, is because the GOP leaders stated unequivocably, that their goal is to kick Obama out of office. GOP has been saying NO to everything the Democrats have proposed. GOP are obstructing economic recovery. GOP don't want the economy to recover. GOP want slave labor. Thats why Paul Ryan said he wanted the minimum wage to be stripped to 2 dollars an hour. Workers deserve a living wage not slave wages. The only party that really helps working class is the Democratic Party. My vote goes to Re-Elect President Obama.

- Of course Obama won't compromise with the Republicans. He expects the Republicans to give hime whatever he wants. If Obama really wants to work in a bipatisan manner, he will compromise rather than have gridlock. The budget is a great example. We haven't had one that has passed congress in several years. The Democrats don't want a budget. That constricts their spending. Pure and simple.
