- When will republicans begin to understand that their policy approaches (war, health care, education, infrastructure, energy, et. al.) are profit motivated and cost money requiring better than subsistance income in order to be inclusive. At the same time they remain culpable in inventing ways for reducing employment opportunity and earnings potential except of course for themselves not to mention the utilization of off-shoring and out-sourcing towards the dubious side of personal wealth objectives. When will they begin to understand that these objectives are fine and wonderful only when the greater majority can afford purchase of the product.

- He must be feeling the heat if he is coming out from under his rock and allowing that taxes can be increased.... slugs don't like the sunshine.

- Norquist defended his pledge, saying that taxes can be increased as long as others are decreased to offset it.
This is the kind of double talk you expect from politicians, not a fascist hack. This says you can increase taxes on the middle class as long as you cut them more for the wealthy. Does not seem fair to me. - Reply to this comment
- There is no proof by anyone to support Grover Norquist claim, but there is proofed by the Tax Policy Center that Romney tax plan would raise tax on working poor and middle class in order to pay for millionaires and billionaires tax cut like Romney.

- norquist is a liberal whack job, he does not want individuals to take responsibility for their healthcare and have to pay or it, he wants the hospitals (ie the paying patients) to take care of their bills what a horrible liberal norquist is

- I listened to Grover this morning on CBS and he was trying to sound reasonable, like he would consider revenue. If that were the case, then why did he have politicians sign a no taxes pledge? Where does he think revenue comes from?
It seems to me Grover's little NAZI campaign IS extortion and he should be indicted by the attorneys general where the crimes were committed. NO one can go around threatening members of Congress, Homeland should be notified as well. - Reply to this comment
- Will the real GOP please stand up and be recognized?
I question whether or not the GOP can even be considered an actual Democratic organization anymore.
Last month the GOP raised 101 million dollars for Romney's super pacs.
Of all that money, 3/4 of it was donated by only 6% of the people donating money. 6%!
The remaining 94% only donated 1/4 of the total, but their donations where over 200.00 each.
Contrast that with the Democrats and Obama.
Of the 75 million donated for their pacs during July, their was a big difference on where it cam from. 98% of all the money came from individuals in amounts less than 200.00 (54.00 average according to the Dems). 98% of it all.
That is a HUGE difference. The Democrats are getting money from a broad spectrum of society, most of it literally 50.00 at a time, where the GOP is primarily getting the bulk of their money from the Rich.
So which group is a true representation of a Democratic organization and which group actually functions as a giant special interest group?
Perhaps the GOP should change their name to something that more closely resembles their true status and function today. They no longer represent a broad spectrum of society but primarily the Rich.
The GOP puts on quite a show (they can afford it) but when you look at who's paying for it all, it's quite clear it's not the average American they are representing.
Recognize them all for what they really are. - Reply to this comment
- This one man, one out of millions and unelected, is controlling our country. This one man has more power and wields it without conscience. How did we, a democracy, let this happen?

- Well, someone has to pay the tax bill. Haven't you heard about the national debt? If the GOP has it's way only the middle class will be footing the bill.
God forbid should we tax "creator class". - Reply to this comment
