"We don't need gun control we need to BAN all weapon that are self loading and rapid fire! I hunted in Montana after some of the worlds largest game and guess what i used, a bolt action rifle that it!"

"They can ban the bolt-action and lever-action assault rifles too? Some folks just dont get it ... its not about firearms, its about unstable individuals, period."

Big difference between a legal hunting rifle that has a 5-round capacity and an assault rifle with a 100-round magazine. I personally do not know of any state where you can use an assault rifle for hunting.

Actually, it's about both firearms and unstable/mentally-challenged people with guns.

I have to agree with the other sane people posting on this forum. This is not a gun issue, it is a mental health issue. Having watched the unfolding secondary story of how the police had to access the perpetrator's apartment, I have no doubt that without a gun, he would have simply slipped to the back door (as he did) and picked up a 32 ounce cup (in the same container the movie theater sells) filled with gasoline. By the time anyone in the first 5 rows of the theater knew what was happening, he'd have lit them to eternity. Bloomberg and his ilk should simply express their condolences to the families of those lost or injured, and then ****. His mindless liberal nonsense, to say nothing of his tact, doesn't play with adults anymore.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg who overoad not one but two public referendums and bullied the NYC city council to give himself a third illeagal term, should realise it is not the weapon but the person using it. Criminals care nothing for the law. Disarming the general populance only seves those who would control us.

It is essential to pass some gun-limiting legislation. Only that way we can bring down crime rates. Forget the wild west and think modern. Countries like Holland, Denmark etc., where gun legislation works, have a much higher public security.

"And yet they pressure Congress and the White House, and they've been doing it for decades, to not fund enforcement of those laws," he said.

Another provable total lie from another sanctimonious ass. The NRA has for decades been saying we have enough gun laws on the books already (at last count including State and local over 30000 different laws). Many of which the Feds wont enforce much as they wont enforce immigration laws to name one. Bloomberg your doing a real good job of controlling guns in the city aren't you what with the 2or 3rd highest crime rate and death rate from violence. What a moron.

Bloomberg knows full well that in the age of Citizens United and NRA and other lobbyist tyranny over politicians that it is political suicide to get near this issue. Most wing nuts already think the President is going to take their guns away or has done it, even though he has done nothing on this issue. Undo Citizens United, work towards public funding of elections, decouple lobbyists from D.C.---this kind of track is the only way to get the gun lobby off of Congress and the White House and then bring about reasonable gun restraints like real background checks, mental health restrictions, etc.

"wait, so tomorrow if some stupid guy drove over in time square, and killed innocent people, we should outlaw driving?"

Seriously, that NRA argument is ludicrous, since semi-automatic pistols and assault rifles are made for killing, especially with extended magazines, and automobiles are made for transportation.

LOL! I love how when things like this happen, it's always the fault of the guns. Not the prescription drugs these people are on or are withdrawing from so they're depressed and bat **** crazy. Listen people. It's ridiculous sad when people die due to tragedies like this. But the ultimate tragedy is going to be when the government disarms the people of this country giving them complete free reign to control us however they please. It's our last true constitutional right to protect and defend our families. It doesn't matter what kind of gun it is. We've already made exceptions to the rules and made it damn near impossible to get an automatic weapon. Do you even know what an assault rifle is? It's a simple semi-automatic weapon that is used to shoot long distances. No different than a rifle you take hunting with you. You can hold larger amounts of rounds. Woopie doo. This guy could have made a bomb from ingredients you can buy at Walmart. So regardless, your emotions towards gun control are feeding a power that wants the public to be helpless against our own out-of-control government.

"I support those who like to collect and hunt but America has way too many irrational and irresponcable people."

"However, with that said, gun control is not the only answer, Holywood has to stop glorifing guns and violence. America's culture is grafted by movies and TV."

Yes, with over an estimated 300 million firearms in America -- enough for every man, woman and child -- there are just too many "irrational and irresponsible people" that already have guns today, and are already tomorrow's big problem.

Good point about Hollywood's action/adventure flicks, since the problem probably lies with those "irrational and irresponsible people" having a very hard time separating fiction from reality.
