Comments on: Mitt Romney stands by anti-tax pledge

- Most probably every Sunday morning political interview program wanted to be the first to interview Mitt Romney. CBS won the honor but what did they agree not to ask in the interview? Were the questions submitted in advance so that Romney had an opportunity to prepare his answers?
Mr. Schieffer threw one softball question after another. Of course Romney was able to answer the questions.
Where were questions like:
1. Considering that you are so wealthy how can you relate to the average American?
2. Specifically what will you do as president to help re-employ millions of Americans?
3. What are the industries that can continue to be the mainstay of the American economy?
4. How will you reduce the national debt without reducing Medicare and Social Security benefits?
5. Do we really need a military budget that is six times that of the next highest military budget in the world?
6. What is your plan on dealing with the 12 million illegal aliens in this country?
Instead we learned nothing except that he will use military action, if necessary, to stop Iran from obtaining a nuclear capability. He sustained his same positions, offered during the GOP debates, on every issue that Bob Schieffer introduced.
I did not expect too many worthwhile answers from Romney. I did expect Schieffer to ask the hard questions. - Reply to this comment
- Mitt Romney, if you're going to make statements like this have a plan! Otherwise, please go away. Just go.

- Of course Willard Romney will keep the tax treatment the same -- him and his ultra rich buddies make out like bandits, stuffing their offshore tax haven accounts with loot, while the middle class gets stuck holding the bag. But the absolute best quote is:
"If I have to build it myself to get it here, I'll get that oil into America."
That's really funny coming from this ultra elitist. A guy born into luxury, with 10 homes, surrounded by servants, who hid in France during Vietnam, and who has never had to break a sweat in his life. He wouldn't have the first clue how to even put on a hard hat. - Reply to this comment
- He will be like Reagan, say one thing and do the opposite. This loser needs to stay in Utah with his own kind.

"From all this, the take away is Mittens is on board with the Ryan Phony Budget Plan that won't balance the budget for 28 years.
28 years. Republicans call that a plan. Stupid..."
Actually, that 28 years to a balanced budget under ryan/romney is in a perfect world of no more recessions and no more wars.
Since we've seen economic growth during the 2000s at a mere 1.7% while cutting taxes to wage TWO WARS by the republicans and out of control spending, the chances of it taking much more than 28 years is probably pretty high.
Until republicans can bury their 'starve the beast' ideology and kick grover norquist down the road and out of D.C., and at least acknowledge our terrible revenue problem, we're doomed! - Reply to this comment

"Growth & success are the needs of AMERICA & AMERICANS , and Obama has failed & Romney will SUCCEEED puting AMERICA BACK TO WORK".
Nice.....do you work for the mitt romney campaign, since that's exactly what he keeps saying, while offering no SPECIFICS whatsoever!
Great political rhetoric attacking President Obama since we've seen 4.25 million jobs created over the past 2 years, despite the GOP obstructing Obama's job creation since day one!
Go ahead and tell us the SPECIFICS of the "romney plan," as to how EXACTLY he will increase economic growth which has been HALF of the 3.4% post depression average during the past 10 years of "supply side" economics at 1.7%, and how our lost decade of the 2000s also gave us a net-zero private-sector job creation record.
More of those tax cuts has already been proven to be a boondoggle! - Reply to this comment
- What a liar and total phony! We've had low taxes for years. Where'e the growth? What an idiot.

- ".....saying that lower tax rates create 'more growth.'"
This is the most inane statement. The last 12 years of the Bush tax cuts are a prime example that lowing taxes does not promote economic growth. If it did, the United States would not be in a recession currently.
If a politician comes out and says that lower taxes makes for a smaller government, I would agree with that (that is if spending is also lowered....which all politicians seem to have a problem with). But lower taxes will not grow the economy, it will however grow the deficit. - Reply to this comment
- Actually, mitt romney's 59-point plan on his website is something he doesn't want to talk about on the campaign trail, and just like bob schieffer asking him for specifics on loopholes and deductions he would propose to remove for the wealthiest Americans, he has no answers.
Fact is, mitt romney has very few specifics on any of his proposals, except maybe that he wants to continue more of the bush policies of making the bush tax cuts permanent and giving our even more tax cuts -- something that has been proven to only slow our economic growth the past 10 years and give us a net-zero job creation record in the 2000s. - Reply to this comment

someone making 70 thou a year has cough up as much as 28%.
Quite a burden.
but if someone making 10 million a year had to cough up 2.8 million he would still have 6.2 million to play with.
Robmee didn't quite pay 15% last year.
he is going to make sure very few in the middle class are going to be able to rise up to compete with him.
