Just like you are laying low on reporting the truth about Obama. Of course , you are not alone in this cover-up.

"...to check it out-which they did, and what journalism is all about." So true. Yet with budget cuts at the major news organizations which are being dominated by entertainment divisions (with an eye on profits), journalism is not able to fully function. CBS and other networks used to have special reports in prime time. No more, as I think they are afraid to offend corporate advertisers. So much of what we see is fluff. And the internet and cable news is dominated by the wing nuts. No wonder there is so much division in the country.

THERE WERE FOUR BREAK-INS AT THE WATERGATE BY THE "PLUMBERS."

Nixon feared that the Democrats had a document linking him to mob bosses and the attempted assassination of Castro while in Chile. That revelation would have SUNK Nixon's campaign in '72. Nixon had many connections to the "mob" commencing with his first run for office that was funded by the same characters.

And yes, where WERE the REPORTERS who should have covered Nixon (and others) with such connections while running for, and then being elected to this nation's highest offices? It makes one wonder how extensive the influence of the Mob and related "government" agencies continue to RUN things in Washington, D.C. while current REPORTERS continue their silk-stocking view of government without knowing or at least revealing the underside of government and politics in D.C.

The Washington Post was a sluggish on the story too. It was competition from the long-defunct afternoon newspaper, the Washington Star, that forced the higher-ups to publish what Woodward and Bernstein were uncovering. Technically, it wasn't the break-in alone though, it was in fact the cover-up.

My favorite Watergate film is "Hoax." It's based on a true story, and details how a comedy of errors may have duped the Nixon people into making the errors that led to the break-in.
