This is a huge disaster created by the corporations that ran the Republican neo con agenda. Bigger than anyone is even saying. In fact, I don''t see how we can overcome the loss of trillions of dollars. Our debt is now bigger than the value of our stock market. Mission accomplished for the neo cons!

"The mess didn''''''''t start until..." You guys keep wanting to point fingers at one guy and say he did it. Clinton didn''t do it by himself, Bush didn''t. The balanced budget you guys keep talking about was never really balanced and the economic boom we experienced was built on the unstable economic principles that are causing the current mess. As some posters have pointed out, the looming social security mess is coming. I supose some of you will blame that on what ever party happens to get stuck holding the bag when that blows up. Keep filling the room with sewage and blaming the other guy for the stench.

Guess from all the Recent activity with the NEW administration - an answer to my following plea made last October is being worked on - THANK YOU

(exerpt of comment written 10/8/2008)
So will we fix the Underlying CAUSES THIS TIME?

Or will we FOOLISHLY "throw money at it" in failed backfiring attempts at hitting problems that our so called leaders REFUSE TO SEE and use more smoke and mirrors to keep the REST of us from seeing?

The 2 Primary UNDERLYING PROBLEMS ARE the WIDENING WEALTH GAP and managing the cyclical changes tied to our aging baby-boomers who have been impacting the economy since WWII!

The IMPACT of BOTH have been able to be easily tracked for DECADES. Both foretold dire circumstances if not moderated - and they have NOT even been openly acknowledged no less addressed or even slightly moderated.

The demographics are frightening now but still all efforts seem to be to IGNORE the needs of our changing population and MAKING FAR WORSE the WEALTH GAP situation. I found an interesting study while researching Elliot Wave Theory ... someone took it further and discovered that EVERY TIME the DISPARITY in WEALTH reached a certain point that we surpassed years ago it becomes a given that the ECONOMY COLLAPSES until a more viable BALANCE is achieved.

...is there ANYONE out there with enough CHUTZPAH and HONOR to do the RIGHT THING rather than the selfish and COWARDLY CHOICE the time?

You all thought the phrase "It''s all Bushes fault" was over used before the new administration took over. LOL!!

Five bucks says Nobama and Company use it at least once a week for the next four years. Sorry part is you will all buy it just like you bought "change we can believe in".

The mess didn''''''''t start until after the Democrats took control of congress in 2006. With Biden and Obama in the Senate majority during this time, the mess they inherited was of there own making.

cbk 16 , Iam not quite sure what you are smoking ,but I assume its not legal . Your contentions are unsupported by the facts, whether its the war in Iraq , the Katrina mess , the lack of government oversight of the financial industry . Lax government oversight of contracts in Iraq , no bid contracts , Bush telling us "the fundamentals of our economy are strong" , just last April .I am not sure who is more clueless. You also totally ignore the elephant in the room , the rampant greed and flat out willful manipulation of markets of those at the top of the finacial food chain , the ones that Bush described as His base , the ones that got the most benefit out of tax cuts for the wealthy . A lot of what happened to our economy was greed , mortgage brokers , bankers , even the American consumer have their place in this debacle. Put your big boy clothes on because we are in for a long haul.

Sorry kid. There''s this new thing out that for you GOP folks is called "the Google" (you can find it using "the internets").

Do a quick check, and you will find that 1) The Democrats won in 2006, but were sworn in in 2007.

The current recession started in 2007.

Hard to imagine that with such a narrow majority in the House and Senate, that the Democrats were able to initiate a recession in just a few short months.

Particularly since the GOP had control for the previous 12 years.

But, then again, when did Republicans ever rely on facts or scientific data to form opinions.

Where was the DEMOCRATIC Congress when all the problems we are facing developed?

Posted by wvu74621

The democrats were in the minority . Democrats took control of the congress in Jan.2007,with a narrow majority, after republicans had beeen running Congress since 1994.Now those are the facts. The facts are in1994 when Republicans took over the congress , there were 1,400 earmarks , the last yr .Republicans were in charge of the congress 2009 , there were 14,000 earmarks . Republicans had control of all 3 branches of government for 6 yrs. the Congress for 12 .Republicans have been the biggest popponents of any type of oversight of our financial markets.Under Bush the national deficit went form a little under 5 trillion to nearly 10 trillion dollars .Denial is not a river in Egypt . you are welcome to your opinions of the facts , but not the facts themselves. Are democrats blameless ... no .. John Murtha , earmark King , Chris Dodd way to friendly with the banking industry , scores of members of both parties , way too influenced by cororate lobbying. When you have been in charge for yrs and yrs as the republicans have been and its your policies guiding the country and they turn out to have driven us off a cliff, the American people ahve decided to put the grwon ups in charge.Thats what elections are about in case you didnt notice , republicans lost because their policies and governance have failed America , its pretty simple.
