- I would like have a $1000 rebate, but don''t want another 150 billion added to the bubget. McCain idea of buying home morgages and renegociating if worked right is the way to go. We would probably get our money back quicker than the bank plan. It shouldn''t be a give away but a loan people could afford. It should only be for one owner, occupied home. This would stop a lot of forecloser and give people a little breathing room.

- Doesn''t matter WHO is selected for the next Pres. There''s going to be "changes" no matter WHAT they do or promise based NOT on TALK but on ECONOMIC REALITY.
Hopefully some of those in charge FINALLY HOLD some of those RESPONSIBLE for the collapse accountable - but I''m not holding my breath.
Those demonstrations zaniacloclo mentions are probably the result of the people involved not being able to afford their cable bill anymore.
Losing the DIVERSIONS that made us passive might just be a blessing in disguise. Back to READING, EXERCISE, and actually PAYING ATTENTION to being messed over - as soon as we get a better education in REAL CIVICS.
Until then my guess as to how this will "play out" before the peasants "take back" their nation is:
Socialism (welfare) for the ALREADY wealthy until there''s nothing left to steal.
FEUDALISM with all it''s harsh deprivations and servitude for the EXPLODING numbers of Poor.
and finally EXTINCTION for all but a tiny few in the Middle Class who cling desperately to their illusion before falling down into the FEUDAL swamp.
That''s been a fact of History over and over but then again I doubt REAL History is taught any more than REAL Civics, Health or Personal Economics are in our Public Schools. - Reply to this comment

You''re SLOW! That''s ALREADY HAPPENED and for much more pragmatic reasons.
Any REAL insider NEOCON worth his salt was buying foreign "vacation property" TWO YEARS AGO when the writing on the wall that the WEALTH GAP started to hit CRITICAL MASS and "Main Street" tipped over the edge.
The actual IMPLOSION WAS planned for right AFTER the election to FOIST it off on whoever came next but the BUSH NEOCONS miscalculated.
guess it was a case of the best laid plans of rats and NEOCONS going awry.
All that''s left now are the "suckers" like YOU and your great grand children who''ll face FEUDALISM in order to PAY OFF George''s PAYOFF to his CRONIES and PUPPET-MASTERS. - Reply to this comment

- McInsane offers a government with bribery for the rich; O BAM BAM offers a government with bribery for the poor.
Hmmmmmm, the American people have a big decision to make REPUBLICAN FACISM or DEMOCRATIC SOCIALISM. Its a shame we the people do not have a politician who represents the U.S. Constitution. - Reply to this comment
- You know, NOBODY even mentions the names George Bush, D. Cheney, Jack Abramoff, Tom Delay, Newt Gingrich, Harkin Oil, Haliburton, Blackwater (who by the way are angling to get those lucrative contracts to defend ships from Somali Pirates now - since the pirates took over a ship with REALLY scary cargo)
oh yeah - Alberto Gonzales, RUMSFELD, that NEOCON that moved to the World Bank and hired his GIRLFRIEND after getting the US into IRAQ ......ad infinitum.
Guess as I said 2 years ago the ECONOMY TRUMPS ALL ELSE in this race - think Congressman Ron Paul was the ONLY one to notice that fact among the candidates and HE was MOCKED by the NEOCONS that apparently STILL haven''t pulled their head out of their cheeks.
I agree with cfin5 - he needs a place (I''d say house BANKING COMMITTEE or Treasury) in FIXING this economic fiasco - his ideas may not be popular but it was "popular ideas" that GOT US INTO THIS MESS.
And oh, BTW, there''s a growing movement to get RID of the FED that''s got some sort of demonstration planned for late November. Does Goldman Sachs NOW OWN our economy? - Reply to this comment
- Another Stimulus Package?
Why? One bag full of money for the banks and CEOs; and second bag of cash for the corrupt government? - Reply to this comment
- Just went out for a Sunday drive. There are people marching in the streets of my city with signs that say
WAKE UP AMERICA YOU CAN NOT HIDE COMMUNISM WITH RETHORIC....
Given the gravity of our economic situation the slightest mishap and this country will face serious social and financial unrest. - Reply to this comment
- "There''s no greater stimulus than keeping American households spending. They''re 70 percent of the economy............
Well would you look at this, "they" are actually noticing that we are out here. After they have run the economy into the ground and ruined so many lives and futures, they want US to go out and spend to jumpstart this mess. Sorry fellas, but no deal. - Reply to this comment
- Maybe it does and maybe it doesn''t. We shouldn''t need to even be talking about this subject if our leaders,....COUGH!.....would treat the public''s checkbook even half as good as their own. They are the ones who need a good CONSTITUTIONAL PADDLIN'' to stimulate the conservative spending habituation''s that promote civil peace......Stimulates my attitude just imagining this could happen,......won''t be holding my breath over it that''s for sure. RON PAUL for Secretary of the Treasury!!!
