- Obama''s lead widens and still the Rep''s would try to sow fear and hatred rather than promote their own candidate.
Of course when all you have to offer is more of the McSame, pitiable tactics is about all you really have left.
REP = RIP

- Mcain and Obama should both be on Letterman at the same time for a presidental debate afterall that''s how this campaign has gone one big circus of hate bashing.

- I don''t really care much for either canadate Mcain is probably the lesser of two evils. Romney should have been chosen for the republicans and Hillary for the democrats and Obama well enough said we know where he stands. Maybe everyone should vote for someone other than the incumbants. I hope we have a strong third party one day

- what idiot McCain is neglecting to mention, is that consumers are 2/3rds of the economy. By boosting the middle class you not only get the economy moving, but you improve consumer sentiment, standard of living, and voter appreciation.
Handing massive piles of cash to companies and stockholders benefits a tiny amount in comparison. There is no way a few tycoons can have as broad and diverse an impact on the economy than the American public.
McCain needs a cranial rectoscopy. - Reply to this comment
- "this candidate, Senator Obama, who''s masquerading as a centrist, is anything but a centrist when it comes to taxing, spending and social policy..."
Apparently this Senator is ignorant of the fact that Bush jr. and senior, and Reagan MASSIVELY INCREASED spending and the deficit, while Clinton paid down some of the debt.
They are pretty desperate to throw this young guy to the wolves, by making him preach disproven and outdated attack methods.
Maybe the Republicans think if women voters see a handsome young voter it will make them vote for the Republican ticket?
If Palin is any indication, they need a new strategy. Palin is the greatest ally any Democrat could ever dream of.
It''s entirely possible people will be more afraid of her stupidity, than Senator Obama''s race.
Tough time for racists and chauvinists, for sure. LOL - Reply to this comment

- There are people, in the right, who should never stick their heads out of their behinds to make a public comment. One is Graham. Every time he, or cheney for that matter, talk, things go wrong for the gop and they lose support. Remember the "Nation of whiners" comment?!!!...Mr. Graham, consider yourself lucky to have fooled folks to vote for you and just be quiet !

- It has long been a spirited topic of debate as to who got here first. The mosaic palate of peoples and cultures which represents today''''s America heightens the intensity of such a debate.

I don''t think we debate who got here first.
1. Native Americans were here first
2. White Europeans or Scandinavians were second (Spanish or Vikings)
3. By the 1500s, Indians from India were imported as slaves to the carribean islands
4. By the mid 1500s black africans were being imported though as indentured servants or guests
5. By the 1600s Africans were being brought in as slaves, also some Dutch immigrants and English, French in Canada and Louisiana
6. 1700s--Dutch and German immigrants
7.Chinese, Turkish, small amount of greek throughout the 1800s--some scandinavian
8.Early 1900s--Irish, more European including eastern european and scandinavian
Though people may debate who among Europeans were first--Spanish or Scandinavian it is pretty much established that the Spanish had the most influential aspect most Americans who claim such diligent ancestry can only trace their actual family presence to the late 19th or early 20th century. Almost all blacks who descended from slaves can claim ancestry immigration or arrival from the mid 1500s to as late as the 1850s. Making claim by seniority more likely among people of african or hispanic descent. Now it really is goodnight. - Reply to this comment

I''m a 30 year old white male... I don''t want to lose my job to over 20 million illegal latinos that amnesty mccain wants to give amnesty to! Obama is not mccain, that is why I like Obama... because there is hope that the illegals won''t be given amnesty under Obama, or atleast not as many as the rich business people want to force mccain grant amnesty! Vote for the working class americans! Vote Obama! - Reply to this comment

** that is why we need President Obama to bring us change! Amnesty Mccain is the problem in Washington, not the solution. Amnesty Mccain admits that greed and corruption are what led to the problems with the 700 billion dollar bail out. Where do you think the corruption lies??? with middle class and lower class??? NO! It is the very wealthy americans that have taken advance of bush/mccain tax cuts... and amnesty mccain wants to reward the greed and corruption with more tax cuts for those very wealthy corrupt people! How can anyone vote for amnesty mccain??? - Reply to this comment
- Good night and pleasant blogging, be sure to check the Dow tommorrow to see if it recovers any or is still going down. The bailouts will not stop the crash--they will only slow down and mask the inevitable--the markets are not sustainable because we have no money. Even for our 300 to 500 million dollar a day wars---we must borrow to pay for it--DAILY and we have promised against our country''s labor output for decades by now...which is why the dollar''s value is so low and why Finland and other countries are tanking. Global markets sound soooo grand--until you recognize that what connects us all for greater opportunities for wealth are the same ties that strangle us or destroy some of us like a bad dominoe game, when the big players like the US start to fall--we take a lot of countries with us.

- From his radical stance on abortion to his prominence in the corruption scandals that has been virtually ignored by the mainstream media, Juan Mccain is not fit to be Senator -- not to mention the next President of the United States.
Mccain has declared his presidential intentions, but it is up to well-informed and energetic conservatives like you to spare our nation from the scourge of a far-left President Juan Amnesty Mccain.

How any country was built is irrelevant to the present situation. No country that evolves ever continues on the course it first was on--it must constantly change and adapt.
America was built on exploitation of native Americans, Africans and Pacific Indians. The wealth of America up until the 1850s was from slavery and the satellite industries around that. From cotton, to sugar can to textiles, to tobacco, the primary wealth was agriculture and natural resources and the engine was slavery. But I digress--that was then--this is now. There is no panacea or static situation to any country. This means even if America was intially built on imperialism or exploitation we do not have to continue that--that time has come and gone. even if the majority of the US''s years were due to slavery--there was no need to continue that--that time has come and gone. For the Industrial revolution--even though part of our heritage and prosperity was built on immigration, there is no indication that this must continue to be our bent.
A country is not a habit or a bastion of behavior--new centuries require new outlooks. America does have a very laudable immigration legacy--that''s nice--it may still have more years of that--but immigration via est and legal methods and immigration through illegal squatting or flouting of the law are 2 very different things. This is NOT your granddad''s America any more. - Reply to this comment
