Democrats Accuse McCain Backers Of Trying To Assassinate Obama's Character
- "Chuck, you actually believe McCain got out of that mess and took the high road? He has been doing pretty well with slandering Obama. Now, it is time for Obama to strike back and he can do that with the truth - doesn''''t have to make up some lies. Vote for Obama!!!

"Republican Trent Lott of Mississippi, the former Senate majority leader, said McCain''s political revival after the investigation was no accident.
"He was so upset at the charges and the impact, he felt an extra need to deal with the kind of things that led to the situation he found himself in," Lott said in an interview. "You can go away disillusioned and angry and just leave, or you can go back to work and try to compensate for it. And that''s what John has been about in the years since. He just went back to work. He bent over backwards to be extra careful about ethics." " - Reply to this comment

"The Chicago Annenberg Challenge stands as Barack Obama%u2019s most important executive experience to date. By its own account, CAC was a largely a failure. And a series of critical evaluations point to reasons for that failure, including a poor strategy, to which the foundation over-committed in 1995, and over-reliance on community organizers with insufficient education expertise. The failure of CAC thus raises entirely legitimate questions, both about Obama%u2019s competence, his alliances with radical community organizers, and about Ayers%u2019s continuing influence over CAC and its board, headed by Obama. Above all, by continuing to fund Ayers%u2019s personal projects, and those of his political-educational allies, Obama was lending moral and material support to Ayers%u2019s profoundly radical efforts. Ayers%u2019s terrorist history aside, that makes the Ayers-Obama relationship a perfectly legitimate issue in this campaign." - Reply to this comment

To finish up (2):
"The Politico reports what Obama hopes to achieve with the Keating attack:
The Obama campaign, including its surrogates appearing on radio and television, will argue that the deregulatory fervor that caused massive, cascading savings-and-loan collapses in the late %u201880s was pursued by McCain throughout his career, and helped cause the current credit crisis.
To push this argument, Obama has to ignore that: (1) banking deregulation was not a primary cause of the current problem, was supported by Democratic leadership, and lessened the current turmoil by permitting the takeovers of Bear Stearns and Merrill Lynch; (2) McCain supported tighter regulation of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (and that such was not the only instance where McCain supported tighter regulation of financial markets); and (3) Democrats in general and Obama in particular get much more money from Wall Street." - Reply to this comment

To finish up:
"Thus, on the one hand, we have McCain representing a constituent, stopping when he heard Keating might have engaged in wrongdoing, being found to have done nothing improper, yet devoting his career to the cause of reform because he believed he had been made to look less than honorable.
On the other hand, we have Obama knowingly embracing unrepentant domestic terrorists like Ayers and Dohrn and working to advance their political agendas as part of a lifelong pattern of seeking to associate with the hard Left in the US." - Reply to this comment

Obama and Ayers (con''t 2):
"Nor was education the only issue on which Obama and Ayers were allies, as Stanley Kurtz notes in deconstructing the NYT%u2019s apologia:
Obama was perfectly aware of Ayers%u2019 radical views, since he read and publically endorsed, without qualification, Ayers%u2019 book on juvenile crime. That book is quite radical, expressing doubts about whether we ought to have a prison system at all, comparing America to South Africa%u2019s apartheid system, and contemptuously dismissing the idea of the United States as a kind or just country. Shane mentions the book endorsement, yet says nothing about the book%u2019s actual content. Nor does Shane mention the panel about Ayers%u2019 book, on which Obama spoke as part of a joint Ayers-Obama effort to sink the 1998 Illinois juvenile crime bill [or mention Michelle Obama''s involvement in setting up the panel. - K] . Again, we have unmistakable evidence of a substantial political working relationship.
Of course, this contemptuous view of the United States could also be heard regularly at the church to which Obama belonged for 20 years and left only when it threatened his presidential campaign. It is the sort of viewpoint Obama has sought out his entire adult life." - Reply to this comment

As for Obama and Ayers (con''t):
"Rather than an official representing a constituent (as was the case with McCain and Keating), Obama chose to chair a $150 million effort spearheaded by Ayers on the important issue of public education, which funded %u201Cawful%u201D projects and %u201Chad little impact on student outcomes.%u201D Given that Obama%u2019s work on the Chicago Annenberg Challenge (CAC) was Obama%u2019s biggest executive experience and biggest attempt at reform, the releationship %u2014 and the failure of the project %u2014 should be newsworthy even if Ayers had not been involved in bombing the Pentagon. That Ayers would like to transform the public schools into revolutionary indoctrination centers and used the CAC to advance that agenda also seems newsworthy. Indeed, Obama touted the effort as a qualification in running for Congress." - Reply to this comment

As for Obama and Ayers:
"In contrast, Obama has always known that Bill Ayers is an unrepentant domestic terrorist and chose to work with him anyway. Other %u201Cprogressives%u201D have chosen to avoid the association. Thus, while Obama%u2019s website once openly defended Ayers and his equally radical wife Bernadine Dohrn, the site later underwent some creative rewriting. Obama campaign strategist David Axelrod lied to the press about the Obama-Ayers relationship. Obama lied about it in an nationally-televised debate in Pennsylvania. Even the New York Times whitewash of their relationship admits that Obama %u201Chas played down his contacts%u201D with Ayers. What Obama has not done is express any disagreement with the underlying hard Left agenda Ayers continues to pursue to this day." - Reply to this comment

As for McCain and Keating 5:
"In the Keating Five case, Senate Ethics Committee Special Counsel Bill Bob Bennett, who did the preliminary investigation of the matter, recommended that no further action be taken against McCain:
This was perhaps the first time the recommendation of a special counsel not to charge a senator was rejected. This was pure politics as the Democrats on the committee did not want to cut McCain loose so that only Democrats would remain in the proceedings.
Ultimately, the committee found that McCain%u2019s actions were not improper. Indeed, McCain took no action on Keating%u2019s behalf after regulators said they intended to recommend a criminal investigation of Keating and his savings and loan." - Reply to this comment
- Hey guys... lets ignore the ingnorant TEX here. there''s no need to engage a bigot.
But seriously... another good question to be raised is, how unAmerican is it for Palin and her husband to want to take Alaska out of the Union? SERIOUSLY!!!! Them... not some sort of associate of theirs. They were registered members of the secessionist party up there. - Reply to this comment
- Which is why the Keating Five incident is so important.

- I hadn''t realized that Obama had such a worldwide following! Great! Even more reason to vote for Obama! We need to be looked up to again. Our nation has gone downhill with Bush. I was more concerned with getting our nation back on the right track and then with the respect from other nations. Thank you for pointing out that Obama is a wonderful person and can work on all of our problems.

- Global Poll Finds Obama Preferred in All Countries But U.S.
A new global poll of 17 countries finds a huge preference for Barack Obama over John McCain in the presidential election in 16 of those countries. In the 17th country -- the U.S. -- McCain was edging out Obama.

You need to get real tex Obama is destroying McCain. You see we are sick and tired of the GOP saying if you don''t agree with what we say you are a traitor.
Guess what the majority of America is swinging the other way and you will be forced to moderate or we will do it for you. - Reply to this comment
- No true American would associate with Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn. The Weather Underground which they were a part killed an American. Using bombs to kill people and destroy property is terrorism. Period the end. Ayers recently said that he wished he had more bombs.
Obama associated with the likes of Ayers, Rezko and Wright for political gain period. He left his principles at the door to better his career.
That is the story no one wants to address.
Ask Brooks or Schieffer if they would have associated with Ayers and Dohrn. - Reply to this comment
