- Plese Douglass Dunn,
I am a godless, very wealthy individual who will pay you to go to school in Europe, enjoy life and stop spewing your slime on the pages ment for civil commentary. They would love to have an ex-Republican.

Thanks to reporting from Amir Taheri, the gist of which the Obama campaign has confirmed, we now know that while Obama is telling the American people he wants an end to the war, he has secretly negotiated with the government in Iraq to extend the U.S. military mission there. That is a black-and-white violation of federal criminal law.
Yet, during Obama%u2019s heralded trip to Baghdad in July, he asked Iraqi leaders to ignore Bush and delay resolving the legal status of our forces until next year - by which time the Senator hopes no longer to need a phony presidential seal.
Under the %u201CLogan Act%u201D (now codified at Section 953 of the federal penal code) it has been against the law since the late 18th century for U.S. citizens to carry on %u201Cintercourse with any foreign government%u201D that is aimed either %u201Cto defeat the measures of the United States%u201D or to influence the foreign government%u2019s dealings with the United States. Being a senator is no immunity from this statute - as any Republican senator would find out in a hurry if he dared to pull a stunt like this during an Obama administration.

- Russia and China are on the rise. The notion of the "end of history" was not sanctioned in the East. In the end, should we have to endure this American Caesar, who like the original, feels nothing but scorn for the body politic and considers himself above his peers, should we have to endure another four years of the new henchmen to the profiteers as they follow their leader and run roughshod over their ignorant peers, should we have to endure four more years of "less government" as a euphemism for barbaric, so-called "raw" capitalism in which the welfare of your fellow citizens is on no concern to those in power, should this go on for four more years and beyond, our salvation will ultimately come in a conflagration with the East, be it Russia or China, or both. You see, this is where your train stops. This is where your philosophy runs into reality. You cannot defend this country in all out, total war with the populace. You lust for power, your unbridled greed, your sense of entitlement and superiority is stopped cold by the awesome military might the Chinese and now the Russian are starting to build. They too, like our common folk, can read the writing on the walls. American has lost it''s independence to an internal foe, profiteers who call themselves "Republicans" and who''s henchmen are that party''s rank and file. You may control the U.S.A., but you cannot defend her against a real enemy, not without us.

- A bailout by any other name is still a bailout.
I oppose the bailout in any form.
Let the chips fall where they may.
A recession or depression will allow the country to regain its position with time and in better shape.
Allow nominal mortgage payments until it gets sorted out.
Many Wall Street and mortgage companies made hundreds of millions of dollars in their usurious positions and took obscene salaries and bonuses, some in the hundreds of millions of dollars.
I do not want to see them rewarded for their avarice and mismanagement, or Congress for their incompetence.
Let''s keep in mind that had the lawmakers, i.e., Congress, been doing their job this bailout would never have happened.
Now, they want to be heralded as our saviors, b-lls-it.
Vote for term limits and vote the old guys, over two terms, out of office.
Can there be yet more disasters and disgraces that the Bush cabal can give us?
Yes, things could get even worse. One way would be to vote for McCain/Palin and guarantee four more years of the same.
What a mess that the Democrats are going to inherit.
Almost makes one forget about the messes in Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran, and Pakistant doesn''t it?
Almost. - Reply to this comment
- The god awful truth is so plainly obvious to every thinking, unbiased mind that it is almost beyond that capability of most surface thinkers to even contemplate. Everything the Republicans say, every word that comes out of John McCain''''s mouth is the opposite of the truth. This is not Karl Rove political tactics. This is an unbelievable evil in our midst. That John McCain behaved as a traitor U.S. News and World Report made perfectly clear to the entire world in 1973, yet now he is a "war hero." He will do or say *anything* to get into the presidency, and so we are told "Country First." He is generally known to be an out of control would be tyrant on the Hill, but he sell himself as a timid and humble Christian. This entire election is a complete and utter farce. John McCain is an American Caesar. This is his march into Rome. Shakespeare did not begin his play about Julius Caesar by condemning the man. He began by crying out "Oh ye men of Rome!" All of these attacks on well meaning citizens who intuitively know the truth and grasp at whatever facts they can to express their support for the opposition to this American Caesar, they are his soldiers, cutting down anyone in his way. They mean to take Washington, D.C.

- Vile personal attack after attack. This is all they know how to do. This is what they call politics. Members of the Republican Party have become the henchmen to the profiteers. Our country collapses under the weight not of "more government," but of "less government" (less regulations to control this new class of barbaric capitalists). Yet they continue their ceaseless citizen bashing, as if to say "How dare you speak in opposition to Caesar," and then they cut with words where the henchmen of yore would strike down with an ax. On it goes, this comedy of errors. Oh ye men of Rome! Take you laptops, your big and fast cars, your house so big you cannot afford to furnish them, your pride, your disdain for others less fortunate. Take it. Lead us on to the promised land of "untouchables" in which George Washington himself would have been cast aside as politically weak. Do to our country what you have done to your own lives. Turn it into a moral wasteland where material possession define a man or woman''s worth. And never fail to wave our flag. Never fail to stake claim to our true heritage. Go. Do your master''s bidding. There will be a day of reckoning. This country is not your''s to destroy.

- Again, Mr. Obama is trying to assuage the fears of those who fear the truth, that what is needed is a restructuring of America, and that their imagined "place'' at the top of the food chain is threatened by mass revolt, should we continue down this road much longer.
He won''t say this, because it will be spun as if he is calling for it, rather than recognizing that it is now a probability.
We can only hope that once he becomes president, he will be free to act in the interests of the poor and middle classes, and will take the advantage to do so before we have to bring it to the streets. - Reply to this comment

Are you sure that Canadians and Europeans don''t have their fair share of problems? I can hardly believe that all of them are wealthy, enjoying life, and living a lark. - Reply to this comment

Now that you have outlined all the problems, will your next posts be outlines of your proposed solutions? - Reply to this comment
- The extended family is practically non-existent, as our elderly finish their years tucked neatly away out of sight.

So, Douglas, have you ever cared for an elderly parent or grandparent? I had my mother with me for the most part of 25 years. Now my mother-in-law has alzheimer''s and I am GRATEFUL that she is in a nice facility where she received care 24/7 and the nurses and staff genuinely care for their patients. Without that back-up, my life would not be worth living. So, before you bellow about the elderly hidden away, I want you to tell us how many years you have spent caring for an elderly relative. - Reply to this comment

- We build homes designed to fail that must be constantly repaired year after year after year. Our people suffer unimaginably from unexpected and unpayable health care bills. Our justice system has enshrined "cruel and unusual" punishment. Our people are huddled in their homes in front of a propaganda machine the likes of which the world has never known trying in vain to insulate themselves from a barbaric capitalism. The extended family is practically non-existent, as our elderly finish their years tucked neatly away out of sight. Now hundred of thousands of family are tore asunder by "subprime" predatory lending, which has made many thousands unbelievably rich, one in a long line of deceptions perpetuated against our people. Our young men and women are sent off to foreign lands to fight for access to the remaining easy oil. Our society has become so cruelly competitive that our children feel a need to arm themselves in school. Millions of children are being raised without a father or mother.

- Could it be true that Obama and group of his associates in the Senate have made millions of dollars involved in the Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac mortgage mess? If that is so, which was outlined last night on a television segment, that would make Obama a complete liar and hypocrite. It also makes him dishonest, and willing to throw all Americans under the bus to profiteer for his own advancement. The thought is horrifying.

- Some call this "raw capitalism." I call it a godless society in which the "haves" are being taught to be proud and to look down on the "have nots." We are slowly becoming a class society, and these Republicans and their comments on these websites set the tone of this new society. If you are not like them, then you are less of a human being. At the top, CEO and politicians like John McCain grab whatever they can. This isn''t about political parties; this is the ruination of America. This bailout is only the beginning. Eight years in an oil war is only the beginning. Nothing in our society honors God. We take, take, take. Consume and spew condemnations others, foaming and gnashing of teeth. We are in hell, and don''t even know it. The Canadians and Europeans are enjoying life. We are too busy consuming it and looking down on others. There is no love, only hate. Vote Republican because all is well.

- PART ONE OF TWO: What can awaken the American people to the awful reality that our country sits between the so-called "third world" countries and the rest of the developed world, that our true standard of living, AS A PEOPLE, that is, as a whole (united), is below that of the rest of the developed world, that our people are suffering, that our troops are dying needlessly? What will it take to go back in time (1973) to when U.S. News and World Report portrayed John McCain as a traitor or (2000) to when his own party buried him. What will it take to make our people see how shamelessly they are manipulated into believing we are the "leaders" of the free world when in truth we are the cannon fodder of the developed countries. What will it take? The only answer is a truly free press. How many journalists will answer this call? How many of them will see this as a duty "to God and country"? Our people are lambs. The Republican party has been laid bare. They are not "of the people, by the people, and for the people." They are profiteers. Anyone, and I do mean ANYONE, willing to look beneath the surface appearance can see this. If you want to know the truth about anything John McCain says, such as "Country First," you need only to reverse what comes out of his mouth. He is the walking definition of propaganda. I pray God delivers us from these madmen. I pray he opens the eyes of my fellow Republicans. I left the party three years ago, and will not rejoin in this lifetime.

- This is just another example of Oblama telling people what they want to hear. This plan is not about your mortgage or mine. It does nothing to address the problem of home forclosures. If someone is living in a home they can''t afford there is nothing that can be done. They have to let it go. This is not about exective payroles. The government will buy up bad debt. How is that padding execetive payouts? Oblama does not know what this issue is even about. he is just telling people what he thinks they want to hear.
