If we bring the entire banking system into receivership and work out the separation of derivatives and bad debt paper under bankruptcy protection then we can have hope for America.

It explains how we can get out of this mess.

Time to start stockpiling basic supplies and learning how to grow your own food & shoot a gun. Bailout or not, the U.S. economy is screwed.

The FDIC might not even be able to insure your bank accounts in this downturn. The value of the US dollar will drop if the FDIC has to borrow from the Treasury. I seriously doubt the Treasury would be able to sustain the hit if everyone makes a run on the bank.

here, me, not opposed to emergency measures to keep the credit flowing, but it can be done without taking on these bad loans. the government already promised to insure money market funds and that alone should do the trick.

with or without the bailout, so many banks will fail that the fdic will soon be coming to congress with their hand out. before it''''s over, we''''re talking trillions.

You''re right but all we have to do is take the entire banking system whish is the "Federal Reserve Systme" into recievership and give all the banks bankruptcy protection.

that way the banks stay open and keep functioning while the derivatives and bad debt is seperated from the banks.

Some of these banks had a 37:1 actual capital to back their debt. I thought the limit was 9:1 and that is bad enough, but 37:1? How about I make my own bank and for every 1 dollar I lend out it is like I have 37 in bank. Just stooooopid.

I know, it''s insane because these were investment banks who wanted the loose regulation to package these loans and sell them like regular physical products.

Basicly the United States has been turned to one big ''debt farm'' where debt is cultivated and harvested and sold like any other commodity on Wall Street.

It''s disgusting and now they want us to take on their losses.

It''s unfair and it''s treason!!!

When you consider John Mc Cain think about this bailout of 700B, Cheney wanting to destroy records, think about Abu Ghraib , lies about yellowcake from Nigeria , a war started without U.N. approval , think about lost homes and jobs, think about it.

When Abu Ghraib occurred I was personally ashamed to be an American. Remember the naked men piled in a stack with a laughing american soldier, remember the man in a pointed hood standing on a chair....an international embarrassment.

To provide 700B at a cost of $2600 to every man woman and child will be just the beginning . The war is costing hundreds of billions more.

Please reconsider . Republican policy is hurting all of us and has continued right into the current week.

John Mc Cain voted 95% of the time with what has brought us to where we are. Please reconsider

DO YOU UNDERSTAND THAT THIS IS GOING TO COST US EACH INCLUDING KIDS ABOUT $2600.

GIVING OUR MONEY TO CORPORATIONS WITH TAX CUTS, SEALS WITH CERTAINTY THAT OUR MONEY WILL GO INTO THE POCKETS OF WEALTHY STOCKHOLDERS.

WHEN THE PEOPLE HAVE THE TAX CUTS, THE MONEY GOES INTO THE POCKETS OF THE PEOPLE WHO CAN THEN CONTROL THE MARKET BY CHOOSING WHEN THEY MAKE THEIR PURCHASES TO BUY ITEMS AT THE BEST PRICES OFFERED. THIS KEEPS PRICES DOWN AND PUTS MONEY INTO CIRCULATION WHICH THEREBY PUMPS UP THE ECONOMY.

WEALTHY REPUBLICANS WANT TO KEEP OUR MONEY.
