With All This Campaign Talk About Pigs, Bob Schieffer Suggests Some Other Animal References
- Let''''s see the pigs with and without lipstick if we''''re going to get down into Carl Rove''''s mud. Bring your buckets, it ain''''t gonna be pretty... and it won''''t be enough to just beat them... they have have to be broken of spirit so they never raise their ugly heads again lest they be hammered down. From my lips to God''''s ears. Amen.

As an independent who''s always considered herself an unregistered Democrat, I wonder if the Democrats were always this vicious and mean-spirited and I just didn''t notice. In any case, I no longer consider myself a Democrat. - Reply to this comment

- It was obviously a faux pas for Obama to say what he said. Talk is cheap, and this was really cheap talk. Everyone knows who he was talking about, because Palin had may the reference to the dog-and-lipstick remark first; and Obama was critizing her over the last several days leading up to his chauvinist pig remark. Well, I don''''t think Obama is a chauvinist pig, per se, but not picking Hillary Clinton certainly did not cement his ties with a lot of voters out there.

So he didn''t pick a woman as his VP candidate, therefore he''s a chauvinist?
He was clearly talking about the fake "change" message that McCain has been absurdly talking about, and how McCain was trying to dress up the Bush policies as something new, fresh, and exciting. In other words "putting lipstick on a pig". He NEVER said anything about Palin, the VP, Alaska, moose hunting, etc -- he was CLEARLY talking about the issues. - Reply to this comment

Just to REALLY keep it real . . .
So much is devoted to how some whites might have trouble voting for a black person. By on the other hand, there are a lot of whites who use ''open-mindedness'' as a cloak for the shame they would be flooded with in having to admit that they need the extra money.
I''m not saying that about anybody in particular, I''m just noting the tells that exist if one is looking for true motive . . . - Reply to this comment

- I think Obama should adorn all his campaign literature with big red lips. Stamp it on tax cuts for the rich, the patriot act, government sactioned torture... Bush''s picture, McCain''s picture, Palin''s picture, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Gonzalaz, Wolfowitz, Feith, Gooding... the list is endless. - Why Bon, I''m amazed. I was certain you would take the partisan, and by that of course I mean right wing, spin on this one and insist that the Democrat had done something outrageous even when it''s clear he did not.
This isn''t entirely my fault, since your spinning of a comment by Wesley Clarke into false outrage to the right stands as an example of what I can expect from you.
You made up for this by spinning furiously in defense of the astonishing series of obvious lies coming from the McCain Palin camp during your panel, but for one moment here I see that you weren''t just cheering for the extreme right. The extreme right being what we''ve had in the White House for eight years and may just have again largely because of right wing cheerleaders like you. However, credit where it''s due, one clear chance to take the right wing spin and run with it, and you didn''t. Bravo. - Reply to this comment
- In other news:
Greenspan told Bloomberg News he was "not in favor of financing tax cuts with borrowed money" when asked if the United States could afford big tax cuts such as those proposed by Republican John McCain.
...Greenspan also said the chances of escaping a recession was "less than 50 percent."
