Sounds like Van Cliburn was a "Jesse Owens" type. Great story too! The Piano is my favorite instrument. Love to hear it in some of Bob Segers songs. And a believing Jew named Keith Green in the "Prodigal Son". I want to here him play up there someday :)

My mistake, Van Cliburn''s first performance in Russia is available. Saw part of it on YouTube.

"This is a great piece of news. It reminds me of how God used to bless this nation..."

I think you have it backwards. They say Jimmy Page sold his soul to The Devil to play guitar like that, I suspect Van Cliburn had similar help. Too bad the original concert in Russia isn''t available on film.

This is a great piece of news. It reminds me of how God used to bless this nation, when we prayed and worshipped God in truth of heart. Now, I see Ukraine, with its powerful spiritual revival, is seeing kudo after bumper crop after international title after kudo after economic revival....
We (America) can return to God any time we want...

Oh look. Proselytizing in a COMPLETELY unrelated article. I''m so shocked!

This is a great article and I enjoyed reading it. It''s just sad that that religious nuts try to make it into something about them.

joyous88,
There is a time and place for your pessimistic opinion on our country and president, an article about a wonderful musician isn''t it.
Can''t we enjoy a "feel good" story occasionally, or must we always be slammed with opinions about what some perceive as a currently negative administration?
I bet you believe he is behind the 9/11 attacks also. I personally would not say the current president is perfect, but what does that have to do with Van Cliburn?

joyous88,
your name belies your attitude. An article about the wonders of a moment featuring an incredible, gifted musician doesn''t need the bitterness that you have. There is a time and place for your poor viewpoint, this is not it.

So your assertion is the the creator of infinite universe is causing wheat to grow (and by extension fail elsewhere) based on the level of "worship" the Ukrainians are currently engaged in.

Is that what you''re saying?
