I think Americans have just come to accept the fact that the goverment no longer represents the will of the people.

hadenough43 and tbweb you two sound like true blue hippie arm-chair generals. You must be real experts. I guess you two should just run the whole show and let the whole nation fall apart.

Whoa! Now this is a Fascist response if ever I heard one. ROFLMAO Of course this swastika huggin'' bootlicker has NO idea about these people who post comments here BUT he does NOT want you or I to read and UNDERSTAND their opinions! The BEST way to stop that, in his small little mind, is to link them to someone or something that you find unacceptable. Disgusting little creatures these fascist!! Sieg Heil Bush

So Mr. Schieffer tosses this out there as a "commentary"? No introspection here ... he says people are more interested in the elections than the war. That the candidates have said little about Iraq. And that it doesn''t factor on mainstream news. Perhaps the "meaning" ... which a "commentary" ought to include ... is that most Americans are resigned to the fact that we''ve commited a colossal blunder, have no prospects of "winning", and just want it all to go away. Neither party''s candidates can say anything substantive, because to do so would incur the wrath of tens of millions of voters ... who are either unwilling to admit "defeat" by leaving, or endure "endless war" by staying. Just don''t talk about it, and it doesn''t exist ...

Bringing up hippies brings back some bad memories, I remember walking through protesters being called baby killers when I came back from ''Nam. I just hope the Iraq and Afghanistan service people never have to face that! Its hard to describe the feeling even now, its wasn''t pleasant. Anyway, I''m no hippie, not even close, and other points of view are good believe it or not, a good idea is still a good idea, it doesn''t matter where it comes from!

Listen, Bob, the vast majority of the public has had its mind made up about the need to end our occupation years ago, yet the President and Congress refuse to do what we want. The public has moved on to other things because there is nothing new to consider here, we just bide our time waiting for the villains in government to change chairs so we can see our will executed...

Obama''s foreign policy on the high road, Vet_SK? The guy has done more to agitate our ally Pakistan than any other leader in our country. Even our president is not that daft. Remember when Obama basically announced that he would invade Pakistan? The man is barely a senator. He has zero experience. He should not be president.

Vet_SK Obama is just another socialist with zero leadership experience. Guess what? The highest office in the nation should not go to someone that "hopes" it away, and has a racist preacher as a close spiritual advisor. I am not impressed with any of the candidates, but considering the climate of the war and the economy, I think we should have some people with both economic and war experience. McCain and Romney, if Romney is picked as veep. My very first comment was merely about media bias. I still think the media has been far too partisan. I have been attacked on this blog for my position on the war, which I will never change.

I have been saying from Day 1 that the quickest way to end the Iraq War is to bring back the Draft! It will be over in months! lol

It''s one thing to run the "Defending Freedom" flag up the flagpole and see who salutes.
It''s quite another to run the "Defending Freedom" flag up the flagpole and FORCING EVERYBODY to salute.
We found that out in the sixties.
We didn''t buy that nonsense then, and we ain''t buyin'' it now.
