Presidential Hopeful Says Troop Withdrawal Would Put Emphasis On Iraqis To Find Political Compromise

Again, not without congress, the president , by law cannot declare war, congress must do that. He can order an emergence police action by the military, but he must justify this before 30 days to congress.
The USMC may be called "the President''s own", but by constitutional law they are actually "America''s own". - Reply to this comment
- I''''m not sure where you draw your facts, but reading a book on any of the wars we have involved ourselves might open your eyes.

Without doubt you are correct, but that doesn''t make it right, or even legal. I have never subscribed to the "might makes right", or "white makes right" philosophies, nor will I ever accept them.
No I don''t live in a vacuum, I simply recognize the corruption our so called leaders have practiced throughout our recent history, and posit that most of America''s problems, especially the root problems of economic disparity stem from this corruption, and that recognizing this in time to avoid collapse can lead us toward real solutions. - Reply to this comment
- Look for the 2008 Election campaign between Republicans and Democrats to be ALL ABOUT IRAQ! And guess who''s gonna win?
Gay marriage?
Eavesdropping on people''s cellphones?
Healthcare?

If, by using a quote from my post you refer to me, I must correct you. I am not against guns, I am a trained marksman myself. I also believe we will need to use our skills soon, when our own military and police carry out the US Nazi''s plan to solve the "race" problem, using Bush''s tactics, a "false flag" event, followed by an agitprop blitz led by *********, then an attempt to kill "the enemy", namely us. - Reply to this comment
- Brianbwb, where do you live in a vaccuum? All war is fought for the benefit of big business. They and they alone profit huge from war. And as far as the military is concerned, he can send the USMC anywhere he deems. That is why we are called the Presidents Own. And the very fact that we have not fought a war on these shores since the civil war should tell you about mandates. We are under no restraints by anything if we feel we are threatened. I''m not sure where you draw your facts, but reading a book on any of the wars we have involved ourselves might open your eyes.

- You have to use your imagination. Close your eyes and use your mind''''s eye to see what you think the future has in store for us. Can you see Obama giving the state of the union speech three years from now. Come on, be honest with yourself. Can you see Hillary giving the state of the union speech three years from now? Can you picture it. Can you imagine it? Now look deep inside your imagination. Use your mind''''s eye. Can you see John Edwards giving the state of the union address three years from now? John Edwards is not perfect, granted. No politician is. But given the options, he is a shining star.

Clinton supporters would love to hear Hillary give the state of the union address. Likewise for Obama and Edwards supporters. Non-supporters will yawn or change the station. The same applies to Republican candidates. Besides, it is easy for people to delude themselves. - Reply to this comment
- Face it, liberals. Yer all hyped up now, but yer of a bigone era. And era of peace and prosperity thats long gone now. You may think these people are magicians.. and can make it go away. But the only people on the stage taking terror seriously are the republicans! And Iraq proves it!

chicagopoet,
Kucinich is a far better candidate. If the Democrats lack the courage and integrity to present the voters with a clear alternative to our present course, and instead choose to back a Corporate/AIPAC tool like Clinton, Edwards, or Obama, then it would appear that we already have the government that we deserve, and I couldn''t care less which "major" Party candidate "wins".- Reply to this comment
