Such was the case in Vietnam, and is happening all over again in Iraq. Strongest military nation in the world, I don't think so.

Yes, I tend to agree with this statement. The Democratic Congress cut off the funding just as the South Vietnamese will getting a firm hold and now they are going to shotchange the Iraqi people and do it again. Strongest military nation in the world manipulated by the politicians into defeat and failure.

The president's very favorable number is more than 5 times that of Harry Reid at 16% versus 4%.

Well, Lincoln was mentally ill. You ever notice that? That the people who have the calling to lead always seem to be the ones who are sick in the head?

I think most leaders are like that. Even democratic ones. Even the ones we like. I imagine if you ever met them in person? You'd not only have an entirely different perspective of who they are. But you'd wonder if they weren't sick.

America has not won a war against non-Caucasians is more than just a misunderstanding of cultures. It is hubris and over confidence plus a disdain for other cultures' ability to defend themselves. In the Art of War, The Chinese military strategist Sun Tsu said "know your enemy, a thousand battles, a thousand victories." ( or something to this effect.) The non-Caucasians have exposed the myth of Western powers, particularly the self-proclaimed "greatest military power the world has even seen," America. America is habitually defeated. Sure, it can flatten a country but when American boots are on the ground, the rules of engagement change and fight is on equal terms. This is where America's self-proclaimed superiority begins to evaporate. When it is men against men, strategy against strategy, ideology against the politics of invasion and conquest that America fails, and fails miserably. When only brains matter, America finds itself wanting. Such was the case in Vietnam, and is happening all over again in Iraq. Strongest military nation in the world, I don't think so.

I disagree completely. Abraham Lincoln went through something very similar for dividing the nation and then for not letting the South secede. They were calling for Andrew Johnson's head on a poll pretty much after he took office. You want more current? How about Carter's handling of the Iran hostage situation? Or Clinton's scandal with Monica? The only difference between all of those our ability now to let our government and each other know how we feel.

I feel all the better for it now. Seems like the bossman is in good Company.

Please, someone tell where the CENTRIST Republicans are?

Many Americans today have been enlightened by the two wars we find ourselves involved. One war, the "war on terrorism", finds its main battleground in Afghanistan, and it is a war that costs lives and money but the majority of Americans support. Liberals, Democrats, Republicans, Conservatives, most don't have a problem with us kicking down the doors of members of the Taliban.

When talking about the war in Iraq the parties have much difference. Democrats say that the public and congress was mislead to justify the war in Iraq and that the Bush Administration no longer deserves autonomy in situations where US service men and women's lives are on the line. Based on the results of the last Congressional elections, most Americans see a problem with GOP/Republicans; at least in the way they make decisions about the use of our military.

So why is it that in the GOP/Republican party there are no dissenters, no independent thinkers, no moderates? Where are the real conservatives who would laugh at how conservatively the current Republican party has been spending taxes, and creating big government? Has the Republican Party lost its identity? Can the ideology of the GOP be so easily summed up in Karl Rove talking points like %u201Csupport this and support that%u201D, and angry rhetoric like %u201Cliberals are traitors%u201D?

Hello centrist Republicans! Anybody out there?

Not to sound predjudiced, but has anyone realized that the US has not won a war against non-caucasians since at the turn of the century.

Think about it... Ww1, WWII we won.

Korea (tie), Vietnam (loss), Lebanon (withdrawal), Somalia (withdrawal), First Gulf War (Saddam still there), and now?

Could it be our general lack of understanding of other cultures makes it impossible for our political and military leaders to effectively wage war against them?

This country has gone down the ***. Never mind that the people can't stop the corrupt from stealing every tax dollar Americans will pay for the next 20 some-odd years (taht money is already gone, never to be seen again), we can't even put the puppets away when they are sitting right in front of us. The children of America are in for one hell of a shet storm. And the propaganda'ist who are posting here and stealing from those childrens future, you are as much a part of this corruption as the rest in the Admin. Here's hopeing your day of judgement is sooner than later, of course you guys don't really have faith, do you?

It used to be the Democrats who had money on their minds, blood on their hands, and forgot how to zip their flys.

Now its the Republicans who seem to have the same problem.

It must be a virus called POLITICS!

SIG HEIL, BUSH!!!

I don't understand your objection. The Democrats backed Bush and the war...they've backed the appropriations and they are stalling on withdrawal with nonsense about time tables. If the Democrats had stood fast, Bush and the Republicans could never have gotten away with years of war. Kerry even tried to out rabble-rouse Bush in 2004 in the conduct of the war. While the Republicans may have had control of Congress, the Democrat support made such control irrelevant with regard to the war.

And, if I 'hate the military' as you suggest, I could think of no better fate for the military to be stuck in Iraq for years...seeing them victimized by stop-loss orders--the mini-draft-- and repeated deployments. Instead, I want them home...NOW!...Did I mention the "Now" part?

Wouldn't it be great? A world without Muslims, and a world where blacks were slaves again. Let's elect bush for eternity. Let's make our nation wealthy with ill-gotten oil, even though 20 people will be the ones controlling it all. Won't it be great to not think about anything and let our beloved Bush just rule us all. Then we can live out our happy christian lives (ie: evangelicals only, cause everyone else is going to hell according to bush) and give 10% of our meager wages to the church (that's what the bible wants, right?). We'll just stone anyone with an alternate point of view and claim everyone as witches. It'll be great. Ann Coulter and Rush Limbaugh, you two are the best!

That's because there has never been a President as irresponsible, pig headed, disrespectful and ignorant as this one. NEVER. These are strange times for us all. We have a ******* for brains President and a Congress afraid to impeach. All they have left is rhetoric, but make no mistake, the consensus that this is the worst President of the United States EVER is shared not only by most Americans, but also by Europe and much of the world. Rest assured that if we get another *** like this one, we will be saying similar things to that one. But people like Bush don't come around everyday, nor do Americans get fooled like this very often. Thank God.
