Do you think the Constitution is just a "g*ddamned piece of paper" as well?
After all, that was written 200 years ago as well.
Oh, and so far, the "conservatives" have offered nothing.
The "conservatives" started this whole mess.
But I bet you will deny that. - Reply to this comment

Too late. As soon as the Shiites took control it became an Iranian Satellite state.
The vast majority of Shiites in control have extremely strong ties to Iran, who helped them for so many years while they were living in exile.
And their ties to Iran are stronger than their ties to America. - Reply to this comment
- Quotes and parroting the press does not make it so.
You will have your chance to change thing in '08. When that happens I would like to be a fly in the booth but I really don't have to be there to know what I already know.
Tell me the war has been mismanaged, tell me you don't like "W", tell me that Runsfeld let us down, tell me that Powell was a an incompetent, tell me that the Democrats and the Republicans are incompetent as a group (including McCain, Pelosi, Arlen Specter, Hillary), tell me that the voting public is duped by both parties year after year, tell me that you now think a guy like Obama or Hillary or Romney or McCain should not have a chance and I will agree with you. But to sign on to some meaningless quote that was spoken 200 years ago is just that, meaningless.
We need somebody with true conservative values, now don't go off half cocked saying that we have a religious right person here. Look at the conservative platform and tell yourself that it is totally opposite of your views. Go ahead. - Reply to this comment
- Doesn't Gates realize that Americans are still dying in Iraq - even while the "crackdown" is in place?
While Gates needs to "play up" the crackdown, the real test will be months, even years down the track. - Reply to this comment
- apennachio,
The U.S. went to war on the basis of rigged intel that claimed that Iraq had weapons of mass distruction when in fact it did not (re: the Downing Street Memos). This war was a grave error and it should never have been waged.

Oh, and please don't tell me I hate America or that I'm undermining the morale of the troops, just because I loathe the actions of the Bush Administration. What part of the First Amendment do you not understand? - Reply to this comment
- Mdc,,, Have you ever tried to have an intellegent discussion with either an Evangilist or a extreme Southern Baptist ????? --- They don't listen & shut down intellegent discussions on anything that doesn't agree with thier ideaology -- You need a baseball bat to talk to them.

First of all I'd like to apologize to anyone who takes offense to the above. I was making a point to Bluestardad. Don't call people ignorant. Ignorant isn't a crime. It just means "somebody might not know better." It's not the same as stupid. When you do, it shows your "true" colors and makes you look like the STUPID one. I swear in this day & age there is no such thing as an intelligent discussion. - Reply to this comment
- scott4261, unfortunately you have to support the troops and their mission. Their mission is the war and anything less then full support will endanger the troops.
If, as others have alleged, "W" lied then the Dems are in an excellent position to impeach him.
It will not happen, there is no proof the "W" lied.
As Bill Buckley (I know he is an arch conservative) stated at the beginning and during the war process "W" and anybody else would have been remiss and playing roulette with the live of 300 Americans and the rest of the free world.
It would be tragic for the mind that could argue with that logic. - Reply to this comment
- bluestardad is angry and foul mouthed. We feel badly for him and hope that he doesn't escalate his anger.

- apennachio,
First, I can only speak for myself, but I appreciate the sacrifices that our brave men and women in the military have made. They didn't start this war, but are just carrying out their duties as proud members of our armed forces. I don't think that supporting the troops but opposing the war is at all hypocritical.
And I have to ask the question again: HOW has the war in Iraq worth it? Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11. Saddam Hussein and Osama bin Laden couldn't have conspired to attack the U.S. because they hated each other. Saddam was secular and Osama is a religious extremist. This war was not worth one drop of American blood. And the very occupation by the U.S. has created a vacuum for terrorist activity where there was none before.
I strongly disagree with your contention that Iraq could become an Iranian satellite. Sure, Iran's Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is a nut case. But I would argue that George W. Bush's pathology runs every bit as deep as Ahmadinejad%u2019s. And the truth is, Ahmadinejad's power was greatly reduced in the last Iranian election cycle. The civilian population is mostly under 35, very westernized, and the majority wants no part of a war with the U.S. The fact that Bush, even in his lame duck period and with his low approval ratings, has more power than Ahmadinejad and that Bush might actually start yet another unnecessary war scares the hell out of me. - Reply to this comment
- Dear blayne831 it is possible that there are those among us that feel strongly about the U.S. remaining in Iraq until we are sure that it doesn't turn into an Iranian sattelite.
I also appreciate your opinion that is obviously on the opposing side.
The fact is that my family has 3 very close family friends who have lost 1 soldier and 2 soldiers that were seriously injured. I have met with them and they and their friends would like to go back if they could. Certainly, our close friend who lost a son was devestated when it happened but he, his wife and his immediate family are more upset over those who claim support and in reality are pulling down the morale of our troops. - Reply to this comment
- blayne831,
No problem. No harm done.
And you're right. That statement is completely devoid of reality. - Reply to this comment
- I stand corrected, that statement is just so ludicrous! My apologies scott4261
