Too bad we can't disagree without being disagreeable. In my view this is a situation that has no "good" alternative, only varying degrees of bad ones. I am concerned that adopting an isolationist stance without controlling our borders and illegal immigration will lead to ever increasing terrorist attacks within the US. I also wonder about our ability to strike meaningful alliances in the future. I would like to see someone start advancing reasonable alternatives that consider the role of America in the future. There is no question that whatever course we take, we are in for a perpetual fight against terrorism whether we fight it here or anywhere else.

Lieberman181 - There is nothing to debate. The situation in Iraq is that there are five players: the sunnis, the *******, kurds, Al Queda, our military.

The sunnis and the ******* are mortal enemies and are trying to kill each other off. The kurds are mostly in the north and trying to stay out of the middle. Al Queda is dedicated to killing our guys and has an endless supply of manpower from the Arab youth of Iraq and other arab counties. We are trying to keep the Sunnis and ******* from killing each other while trying to kill the Al Queda which we cannot identify. All parties are dedicated to killing our guys which they see as a common enemy.
Aginist all that, what in the HELL ARE WE THINKING ABOUT OR REALLY TRYING TO DO??

Did you notice that very few, if any, Arabs are killed/injured by IEDs?? They know where they are planted. Why don't they warn our guys? Why don't our guys include their Iraq counterparts in any military planning until the last minute?

Against all of the above, please explain to me and the other fellows what we are trying to do in Iraq that is worth the lives of our guys? I am not baiting you. I really want to know.

Thanks

The Elite Minyan group - you mean for a minimum of only $100,000 dollars
a year I too can shape world policy? Tell me more!

I especially like the bit about enjoying "the exclusivity you deserve."

This thing borders on parody, but alas, unfortunately it is all too real.

[Tell me, pleeeeeze. That is, if you can get off the toilet long enough to present me with facts, not your hate-filled spew and b.s.]

i'd present the facts but since your head is up your @$$ you wouldn't actually be able to discren fact from fantasy ... you know ... the fantasy that we're going to WIN. Still waiting for the definition of WIN from you idiots, by the way.

all we're going to win in the end is a larger population of religious zealots that will want to bring harm to the united states ... and willing to die for that to happen.

we're training and arming (our future enemies)right now for that inevitable future ... it's called blowback and IT IS THE REASON for 911, african embassy bombings, cole attack. The CIA's largest clandestine program to train and arm mujahadeen ... and then abandon them after the fall of the soviet union ... is the cause of 911 ... and osama himself has clearly stated this (only months after 911). He doesn't hate us because we're free ... despite the village idiot repeating this every time he's coached to make a public statement.

your mother's calling from upstairs ... your grilled cheese sandwich is getting cold and your glass of milk is getting warm .. better hurry!

PS. Has Duke Cunningham, Bob Ney, Jack Abramoff, Ralph Reed, and Grover Norquist done anything for the troops ... oh yea ... that's right ... they were too busy helping themselves.

Mid Term Elections changed nothing. More Money and More Troops = Stay The Course. POST: X32792

X32792: I appreciate and understand your frustration but I beg to differ with respect to your premise. The Democrats have not stopped the war, as of yet, but think of how the debate has changed in the last few months. I actually hear people talking intelligently (Lieberman excluded) about the differing factions and the reality of the current situation. The House of Representatives changes the dynamic because that body operates according to the will of the majority. Having them shape debate and cast the initial vote on funding issues constitutes a huge shift. As importantly, having committee chairmen in both the House and the Senate will allow for REAL OVERSIGHT. The Republican reign basically meant no investigation, no debate, and led us directly to the corruptions and quagmires we currently experience. Realistically, challenges remain. The Republicans, shameless as ever, have already demonstrated their willingness to use the filibuster, which they once pledged to nuke, in order to stall debate and prevent votes in the Senate. The most recent vote was 54-36, but 54 in favor in the Senate will not be enough. Bush will wield his veto pen now that he has to. But to suggest nothing has changed since pre-2006 election? I beg to differ. Much has changed, but neo-con artist obstructionism in the Senate and an arrogant and reality-challenged White House means progress will be slow and painful.

Mid Term Elections changed nothing.

More Money and More Troops = Stay The Course.

All the while members of both Parties enjoy ZERO ACCOUNTABILITY and labor over the wording of non -binding resolutions.

We have been betrayed by Congress. The Will of the People is ignored and our votes mean nothing.

gotta love a laugh from the liberals, the surrender monkeys, the dem apologists and the bozo fascists.

They are so filled with hate and lies, they are not just pathetic - but pretty hilarious.

Sorry though, these clowns do scare off the kids with their constant spew and vomit routines.

LOL

Our aptly named Lieberman supporter has apparently never read the IWR as it was written. Now that Huessein is dead, and there are CLEARLY no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, the "job is done".

Now if we could only get then to clearly define what "the job" is now we could talk.

clementhaggen,

murtha, webb, and kerry turned their backs on their fellow vets. Kerry actually compared them to barbarians, or haven't you forgotten.

Just keep up the usual bs - and always forget to mention that Clinton not only was a draft dodger, he dissed this country from the safe collegial grounds of Oxford.

[Who neglects them most of all though are the Liberals. ]

this statement right here shows how much of an ignorant piece of *** you are.

it's the republicans (you know ... the one's that don't actually serve) that have sent these people into harms way.

it's the republicans that don't debate the issue (WE MUST WIN THIS).

it's the rebublicans that cut funding for the VA and other support elements for troops.

it's the republicans that sent the troops into battle w/o the correct equipment.

it's the republicans that trashed the top ranking generals that spoke out about the handling of the war last year.

so ... what was that dribble coming out of the side of your mouth that sounded like the word 'liberal'?

Lieberman: Absolutely shameless. The Republicans have possessed unchecked power for the last six years, and since 1994 they have had control over the power of the purse via the House of Representatives. To blame everything from underfunding of the veterans to lack of body armor and properly armored humvees simply betrays how clueless and blinded by partisanship you are. Murtha and Webb both served as marines and decorated ones at that. Compare that to the Republican leadership: Cheney = deferment, Bush = AWOL, Limbaugh - O'Reilly - Gingrich - DeLay = chickenhawks and no military service all. The former military vets like Murtha and Webb know the score: to wit, that these troops have been cynically used by the current administration as props for photo-ops and cannon fodder via endless tours of duty in order to line the pockets of the corporate cronies in the oil industry and industrial-military complex. Add to the list the latest group of war profiteers, the companies like Halliburton and Bechtel, who've profited from no-bid "privatization of war" contracts. Lieberman will never figure it out, but may the rest of you possess the ability to see through the shallow rhetoric to find out who truly "supports the troops" and who uses them cynically for political and corporate profit.

Biden is on the right track, this administration cooked the intelligence and lied to mislead congress to hand over authority to go to war. Now that congress is aware of the lies and the 'false' intelligence, they have every right to rcend their individual votes. This president know he did not have the power to go to war without that authorization. These people should be removed from office, tried, convicted and hung for treason.

Replacing Bush will not fix our problem. We have colossal failure of intelligence from 9-11 and still today. We have colossal failure of our political system that does not produce smart leaders who can create smart foreign politics. How do we fix that?

The real problem with this Iraq war is that American thinking and strategy would be correct if this war were about countries! This war is not about countries, this war is about religion! Religion in the context that it has no borders in the traditional sense that America usually deals with these type issues. The bond between the Shiite of Iran and Iraq trumps the other bonds like country and when America wakes up to that reality it will then begin to see the real scope of this mess we're in!!

Lierberman: Maybe you didn't read the rules of engagement on this blog: Here's the plain English: no libel, slander, no lying, no fabricating, no swearing at all, no words that teenagers use a lot that some people think aren't swearing but we do, no insulting groups or individuals, no ethnic slurs and/or epithets, no religious bigotry, no threats of any kind, no bathroom humor, no comparing anyone to Hitler, Stalin or Pol Pot. We expect heated, robust debate, but comments should be polite and civil. We consider this to be public space so behave and write accordingly. PLEASE NOTE: NO THREATS OF ANY KIND.

militaryfam,

I wholeheartedly agree with you and also think it is a *** shame how the vets are treated. Who neglects them most of all though are the Liberals. They never liked the fact that they were willing to serve for our country in a war, and while the botox girls and the rest talk big - they have never delivered. Not saying that the Republicans could do better - they can and must. But think of all of the statements ever made in the Carter and Clinton administrations, or even now made by Pelosi and some of her "vet" friends like Murtha and Webb. They'll sooner deliver to their ILLEGAL alien friends than to a deserving serviceman. Mark my words.

Either way, all of them - whether Liberal or Conservative in government should be held accountible. Thank You and your husband for his service to our nation.

There is nothing more unamerican than saying someone is unamerican for not agreeing with you. And telling someone to live elsewhere because they don't agree with the choices of their government representatives, what kind of American is this?
