- Chuck Hagel will have his hands full to try to get the Republican Party toi change and move to the center. It will be like America pulling out of Iraq, easier said than done.

- And more for both sides:
Are you all so blind that you can't see that what is printed in the Press is designed for you to react to it? It is INTENTIONALLY designed to be confrontational and that NONE of it actually is news anymore? The Repubs are right to complain that there aren't many stories on what has gone right in Iraq (don't shoot me lefties, because there has been 'some' positive work done).
The left is right that news is Big Business, but wrong when they claim it leans right. News leans to contraversy and that's it. It does 'seem' liberal as the press likes to put the 'human touch' into the news, which is almost exclusively presented in a liberal way. But do NOT be mistaken, it is all about $$$$ in the end.
Not that making $$$$ is bad, just that it shouldn't be made at the cost of integrity and american lives. - Reply to this comment
- appreciate your concerns about grammer...but I think it's (ok?) the content that counts...
fact is I think we're about 300 on-off participants online her and it's amazing how we're all in agreement about the sorry state of affairs in the country. I visited other sites and the discussions are very similar. I wonder how all this sharing of like-minded opinions will play out on the national level. - Reply to this comment
- I think moving BOTH parties towards the center would be a good idea, since over 90% of the folks in this country are in the center. Left and right fringe are BOTH sad and WAAAY over publicized!
Wouldn't we ALL like to have a positive result to the Iraq mess? Wouldn't we ALL like an end to terrorism? Wouldn't we ALL like to have lower taxes and more money in our pockets, while taking care of those less fortunate?
So instead of bashing the 'other' party, why not post some positives from your view and leave the negative stuff (waste) in the toilet where it belongs.
To the Dems: Do you have anything to propose to HELP the situation in Iraq? And I mean a REAL plan for AFTER we "get the soldiers out" idea?
To the Repubs: It MUST be considered that a military solution isn't working and sending more troups isn't the answer. So what ELSE would you suggest, if the increase in troups does not resolve the bombings, such as happened this past weekend??
Why can't ALL of you see that this ridiculous name calling and simply hating the other party is doing NO-ONE ANY GOOD?? Can't you see how your rhetoric is very similar to the Shiite and Sunni rhetoric?? Very scary when you think of it that way, eh? - Reply to this comment
- Want the troops home from Iraq ... cut the Pentagon's budget to ZERO ... GI's will be home in a week!!!
Want peace in the middle-east ... cut the $3 BILLION a year of so-called foreign-aid to the Jews to ZERO ... and give it to the Palastinian's.
MORON's like DUMBYA and Condi Rice will NEVER again be able to say "the Israeli's must be able to defend themselves", whlie they obliterate $50 BILLION of Lebonese infrastructure, a UN peace mission and Lebonese women and children. - Reply to this comment

May as well get used to it.. In case no one has noticed, education in this country has been falling further and further into the abyss, and NCLB will only accelerate it.
Almost every presentation today is rife with wrongly used synonyms, mispelling, and grammatical syntax that would bring tears to my English teachers of yesteryear... sigh.. Today's kids and young adults can't add without a calculator either. - Reply to this comment
- A small point, but:
ITS = belongs to IT
IT's = IT IS.
The story's second paragraph should correctly read:
"Hagel has been one of the most outspoken Republican critics of President George W. Bush's handling of the Iraq war, and he continues to try to force his party to adopt a new strategy %u2014 not just with the war but in its overall philosophy." - Reply to this comment

As to be expected from an a$$hole Repuke sympathyzer, inaccurate information...
Here's the vote breakdown according to Wikopedia,
By party and region
The original House version:
Southern Democrats: 7-87 (7%-93%)
Southern Republicans: 0-10 (0%-100%)
Northern Democrats: 145-9 (94%-6%)
Northern Republicans: 138-24 (85%-15%)
The Senate version:
Southern Democrats: 1-20 (5%-95%)
Southern Republicans: 0-1 (0%-100%)
Northern Democrats: 45-1 (98%-2%)
Northern Republicans: 27-5 (84%-16%)
So don't give me your half a$$ed horse sh*t about the Repukes, especially Conservatives of either party, being the ones who championed civil rights.. It's myth.. it passed on a bi-partisan effort of basically libs in favor and conservatives agains... from either party.
