- does this man really think that anyone takes him seriously any longer? (psst, cbs - quit giving him airtime!)
i think that the president, supreme court, and democratic members of congress should be able to ignore the right wing republicans in congress because i believe "they have become 'dictatorial and arrogant' and 'pretend they are the dominant branch' of the government." - Reply to this comment
- This guy is a real wacko.
He talks about "dictatorial and arrogant."
What do you think he is?
He has turned out to be a real idiot!
Imagine we had him as Speaker of the House, how frightning. - Reply to this comment
- Gingrich, speaking on CBS' "Face the Nation," defended a Saturday remark in which he said as president he'd ignore the Supreme Court if he fundamentally disagreed with its decision.

Andrew Jackson is alive and living in newt gingrich. The terrible things he did in his life no doubt caused him to be reborn as a newt.
Life in republican america: ignore the constitution when you don't like what it says. - Reply to this comment
- Newt does not seem to be serious about being POTUS. suggesting that the president is free to openly defy the supereme court when ever the mood strikes him indicates that he is not fit for the office.
Sinc his entire executive election staff quit on him he may have figured out that he will never be POTUS, so there is no sense in restrainting saying what he really feels. Too bad Newt. The Soviet Union fell many years ago. Stalin's way of doing business is not going to catch on in america and you will never be dictator of the United States - Reply to this comment
- Imagine if Newt's desire were to become reality.
No judiciary keeping the executive and legislative branches in check; pass any law without fear of it's lack of Constitutionality; take any action as president without fear of having it's merits called into question by anyone.
This man wants ours replaced with a totalitarian system.

- The supreme court is treading into dangerous territory by legislating from the bench as it does now. Congress should cut off funding to the supreme court until it begins to review only on the laws that our congress passes. Not to remove or add to those laws but litigate from them.

- Good ole' Newt is laying the philosophical foundation for a right wing dictatorship. If you don't like what a court of law says, just ignore it and answer to no one.
So should we have just disregarded what the Supreme Court decided in Bush v. Gore? After all, Al Gore got more popular votes.
Disregarding the rule of law doesn't sound very conservative to me. This sounds downright radical. - Reply to this comment

can everyone just ignore 'the newt'? - Reply to this comment
- "Today you have JUDGES who are dictatorial and arrogant, who pretend that they are the dominant branch and who issue orders that clearly are against the Constitution"????
Ummm, how about PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES who are dictatorial and arrogant, who pretend that they are the dominant branch and who issue orders that clearly are against the Constitution?
The framers of our US Constitution knew very well what they were doing when they created the "checks and balances" of a three-part government with each part (executive, legislative and judicial) serving different roles, but no one part able to operate independently.
If Gingrich ever "ignore[d] the Supreme Court if he fundamentally disagreed with its decision", I would sincerely hope he'd be tried for, and convicted of treason. - Reply to this comment
