A LITTER'ATION
-- James Ph. Kotsybar

It's newly clear
that nuclear power
carries more threat
than possibilities.
It's the cloud that cloaks
the darkest hour --
a storm stored
in faulty facilities.
Let's let alone the lunatic notions
like a limited annihilation;
look what we've done to our earth and oceans:
Dumped canisters leak abomination --
permanent pollution -
danger that stays --
half-lives upwards of twenty thousand years --
a gift of garbage, spewing gamma rays --
a poor present that never disappears --
perpetrated upon our progeny
and our planet's total biogeny.

A tragedy that is still difficult for some to understand, and still some are pandering to the dead=in-its-tracks nuclear industry.

Below we can see three false arguments used by the agents of greed and destruction:

1. Nuclear or coal - a false choice, a variety of alternatives are commercially viable today.

2. A little plutonium won't hurt you -- what fool would want their children to be exposed to even trace amounts ?

3. You are already exposed from atmospheric testing and other accidents (and thus have no hope ultimately).

If you love your children and country -- don't listen to the deeply shameful words of the nuclear lobby and their agents.

We can build the most powerful and safe nation and world for our kids without nuclear energy of any type. Period.

Time has shown again and again this technology is unsafe and the owners and operators and PR spinners are incompetent and corrupt.

This disaster has been made far worse by the corrupt Nuclear Lobby, including US nuclear companies and their PR agents. These companies are more concerned about their stock price and preserving their bad investment choices (and prior corrupt deals, safety violations, and faulty designs).

Because of this false information from pr spinners the nuclear lobby (and their media manipulators) -- we have failed to act quickly and decisively.

By spreading false stories that indicate there is no real problem or that the radiation is not that hazardous we have grossly underestimated the scope of this ongoing disaster, and we continue to fail to contain this thing.

This failure will affect millions of people, including people in the US. This disaster will affect children and future generations. Just look at the amount of land that is destroyed (and let's hope that does not expand to include the US west coast).

Reactor cores containing plutonium are cracked, the situation is NOT under control.

Urgent action is needed !!!

Bad nuke, bad coal, bad oil, bad natural gas, bad hydro-electric, not much left.

A reactor design exists that is completely "meltdown-proof". It involves a surrounding moat designed to flood the core in the event the power goes off, or the pumping system fails. Why no new reactors are built with this, or why old ones are not being retrofitted, is beyond belief.

Funny isn't it that the conservatives like regulation for nuclear power, but not for banks, mortgage brokers, coal plant operators, etc.?

To those of you who disagree with Sen. Markey; how would you like it if there were a nuclear facility near you and it began spewing radiation, then how would feel about nuclear power? Would you embrace it like you apparently do now or is it because Markey is a democrat and you are with the party of "no."

I think these failures should be studied and changes incorporated in any new plants. And when they can't fix it, they can't even bring in enough outside help to to fix it, or they can't GET CLOSE ENOUGH to fix it. I've heard all kinds of safeguards and failsafes but when they don't work you have a meltdown(s) on your hands.

This guy doesn't like nuclear, and most of the left wing Democrats don't want coal fired power plants. Other left wing Democrats are against building dams for power because it is possible an endangered fish might be hurt. There is no way for this country to obtain the energy it requires by solar or wind.

If these short sighted people had their way I guess we would all be huddled up using only body heat for warmth in caves. This nation has huge energy needs, and we certainly should not take nuclear off the table. It is my understanding that the Japanese power plant was not damaged by the earthquake, but rather by the tsunami. We can build a large number of nuclear plants in the United States that are miles away from any chance of tsunami damage.
