- I always find it funny when people like to put Europe on some sort of pedestal with regards to topics like this. As a member of a global product development project, I've worked with Europeans and can tell you that their productivity is crap (at least the ones I've worked with). They always seem to be on vacation and take on small loads of work when they are present. They also like to spend most of the time arguing and debating rather than getting anything done on time. It could be because I work mostly with the Swiss...who are apparently notorious for this crap. At any rate, working with them is a nightmare. Perhaps we need a little more vacation and they need a little less.

- Why does Congressman Grayson only seek guaranteed, paid vacation for those working for companies with over 100 employees? Don't all other employees deserve guaranteed, paid vacation as well? Also, one week only translates into 5 days. That doesn't seem like very much compared to the other countries mentioned in the segment.

- "And the United States is the only country to have zero. "----
This is only true for workers who do the real work. As soon as you get "manager" attached to your job title (which in America is many in both private and public sector)you go to the inner circle and you get all the perks of which two month vacation is the least. - Reply to this comment
- Love rading all the BS being written in this forum
Glad to see most Americans don't even take their own country seriously... It's all just a pathetic joke to most now.
Vacation and time off from work is a right that we all deserve. Life is not about capitialism... it's about family and humanity
America is a sick joke... and I'm not laughing, enjoy the big crap sandwhich you will be served bywallstreet for the rest of your lives... Yum tasty... - Reply to this comment
- Lack of Vacation is the least of the American workers problems, now, since the big fix in Health care, employers have decided to hire more and more contract workers and not provide any benefits; Thanks to our wonderful two party system, both of which have been bought off by the rich. Go on Tea Baggers, keep supporting those rich idiots that will screw you in the end! Wonderful job BP!

- I've worked in Germany and the US. German workers are far more productive than we are.

- Vacations are a socialistic plot. What happened to the good old days when people worked 6 1/2 days a week 10-12 hours a day and we did this until we died. That is the way capitalism should work and at the rate we are going we will be getting back to that.......

- THe govt does not need to mandate vacation. THe working relationshipe between employer and employee should be left to employer and employee. Some people enjoy their work more than vaction. I can tell yoiu first hand that I would rather stay at work then spend a week at Disney with three kids and a wife. Work is more relaxing.

- Americans only know what is in america, ie don't know any better. Many think Canada is just another state!! Don't expect them to appreciate the cultures from other countries, like access to health care, paid vacations, piad maternity leave etc. How much time piad time off do mothers get in the US? vs say France, Canada, Germany?
