- Do we really need the government to mandate the amount of vacation we take? Wasn?t the USA founded on self reliance, rugged individualism, liberty and freedom? How ironic is it that the left, aided by the mainstream media seems intent on getting us to emulate the social democracies of Europe at the very moment that those experiments are failing under the sheer weight of all their social programs. Social programs and entitlements are not designed out of compassion, they are designed to make people dependant on government thereby increasing government?s power. Every entitlement that people permit government to provide to them, no matter how enticing, becomes a link in the chain that will eventually be the instrument of their bondage.

- Lol. The Keynesian stimulus has only miscalculated resources that the market would not have spent it on because they are bad investments. Start looking at the Federal Reserves easy credit, there is where your problem lies. An economy is bases on savings, not spending. Just ask Greece.

Someone really should have told the guy that there is virtually nothing that other first world nations envy about America anymore.
US economic system - garbage
Health care system - garbage
Educational system - garbage
Criminal justice system - garbage
I could go on all day, but you get the idea.
I could easily name a dozen other countries I'd rather live in before I'd ever move to America.

- Vacation with what they are sucking us dry .Most people haven't seen a raise in 4 to 5 years.All the fat CEO's are the only ones who can spend and all the others who milk everyone for more and more hours but pay no more for the jobs.The gov and all them need to stop getting raises and retirements every year like the rest of the world .and stop there whining when they don't get it cuz no one else is either .

- LOL @ Bandersenmayo. Another Chicken Little who's afraid of the Socialism Boogey Man. Should I remind you that is was the excesses of capitalism which nearly brought down world markets and almost destroyed the American Free Market system? Who said anything about the European model being "better?" My being the very first posting on this subject said implied that we Americans can be arrogant at times...so much so that we tend to think that OUR way is the best way and that we feel that we can't learn anything from anyone else. Maybe if you weren't such a predictable knee-jerk reactionary Right-Winger and actually learn to weigh the merits of something you don't believe in rather than just reject it outright because you "hate socialism," maybe you would come off as half-way intelligent.

- I don't think that anyone will argue against having more vacation. it might just be a matter of whether it should be mandated by law. Don't these other nations mentioned have unemployment far in excess of the U.S.? These folks are on permanent vacation and no money to enjoy it.
