- Why no mention of McChrystal's involvement (initiating the coverup and lies) regarding Pat Tillman's death? He was one of the higher up brass who came up with the idea to use Tillman's accidental death as an Army recruiting tool.

- I respect and appreciate Gen. McChrystal's service. But I'm as weary of HIS whining as I am of Wall Street's whining. A group I've belonged to for 30-plus years had its convention in DC last fall, and I seriously considered attending...until I learned its keynote speaker was Stan McChrystal. That was enough to make it a No-Go for me. The Rolling Stone story mattered; it displayed elements of a military hierarchy that failed to understand democracy. So while I sympathize with McChrystal's personal disappointment, I'm very pleased that he lost his job!

- "You had to kill a lot of people ... Did you ever wonder if you were losing your humanity?" asked Martin.
Has cbs or anyone asked that of mr. Obama regarding the drone strikes he's ordered? - Reply to this comment
- I was so moved by your segment on Gen. McChrystal I had to comment publicly. In my eyes Gen. McChrystal is a true American hero who served all of us with honor, distinction, valor and courage. I appreciate his commitment to the service of democracy and freedom, not just for the United States, but for the rest of the free world. Any shame or dishonor rests squarely on the shoulders of the irresponsible, self-serving reporter and the shameful administration who cowardly accepted his resignation. None of the aforementioned individuals have the character or courage to make the sacrifices he and his family made these past 34 years. He will forever have my respect and gratitude for his service.

- Compared to idiot Petraeus - idiot McChrystal isn't looking so bad. It's amazing to me that the United States of America can't do better than these two morons!

- Despite Gen. Stanley McChrystal's much vaunted "candor," it appears his memoir "My Share of the Task" whitewashes or ignores the controversies of his career. For example, McChrystal simply repeats his lecture circuit BS that there was no cover-up of Pat Tillman's 2004 friendly-fire death, merely "well-intentioned mistakes." And, it appears that McChrystal has also dodged taking responsibility for the routine use of torture by JSOC forces under his command, how he helped "box in" President Obama into his strategically flawed Afghan War "surge," and for his getting fired for "Le'Affair Rolling Stan" (I'm curious to see how his story of the capture of Saddam Hussein and the killing of Abu Zarqawi matches my own research into the "back story" of those manhunts).
If you're interested in more details, see the post, "Never Shall I Fail My Comrades": The Dark Legacy of Gen. Stanley McChrystal: His Betrayal of Pat Tillman, His Command of JSOC Torture, and His Failed Afghan War Surge" at the Feral Firefighter blog. - Reply to this comment
- "But the anonymous quotes attributed to McChrystal's staff were devastating..."
However, in Michael Hasting's 2012 book, "The Operators," all of the quotes are attributed (I don't think he ever turned off his tape recorder). His book expands his "Rolling Stone" piece and puts it into the context of McChrystal's failed Afghan War surge. - Reply to this comment
- so badmouthing this POTUS, while not present but in a group of guys, while in vacation, was more important then the mission. This only reflects the inadequacies this POTUS finds himself in leading men. He is simply incapable of being a big man. Boo hoo hoo...they are being mean to me...bahahahaaha.
