- not only are films bad, the cost of a ticket is too high. cost of theatre refreshments also too high. one is better off waiting until the film comes out on dvd then buy it and share it with friends. people in theatres are rude, talk during the film and are constantly in/out of their chairs for whatever reason. much, much better to see a film on big screen tv in your own home and it's cheaper too!

- There are always people critical of most movies, woodieboy63. But I have gone to many movies over the last year and have noticed the attendance numbers are increasing relative to the improvements in the economy in this area. I think the bad economy and the lack of an extra blockbuster last year are really the cause of last year's reduced attendance.

- Its not just the quality (or lack thereof) of the movies, its that no one wants to go to a theater and be distracted by people talking and bright lights from people texting. Until the managers of movie theaters enforce rules and force the audience to behave (since they cannot seem to control themselves) fewer adults will go to the movies. Why should I pay for a ticket and then have to listen to the idiots behind me discussing their social lives or be distracted by the glow of a smart phone because someone cannot live for an hour without checking their email.
This sort of selfish behavior is not just happening in movie theaters, you see/hear it in Broadway theaters and even at the opera. I don't know why people pay for a ticket and then ignore what is happening on stage/screen, but they do. I wish they would simply stay home and let the rest of us enjoy the show. - Reply to this comment
- ALL summer and into the fall and winter I've been going to the movies... and they are awful... But it's not the subject matter but the manner in which they are making the product. Scripts, directing and acting skills of our professional movie makers are very low. Want people to go to movies? Make better movies.
