this from poliifact.....Not everyone remembers headlines from 1998. In the case of Gingrich's ethics fine, the Super PAC Restore Our Future has its history correct. Gingrich was fined $300,000 for ethics violations, and we rate the statement True......."Talk about "a lot of smoke" blowing around."
=============================================================================
Nancy stated that Newt was "fined" for ethic violations. He was NOT "fined" for the violations. He paid an assessment for the cost of the investigation, but it was not a fine. She also didn't state that the IRS announced on February 3, 1999, that it found NO IMPROPRIETIES IN THE TAX FILINGS of Gingrich and the sponsoring Progress and Freedom Foundation.

In other words, the ethics charges David Bonior filed against Newt were ALL bogus. Every single one of them.

"Sunday Mornings' has long been one of favorite programs. I always record each episode so that we will not miss a moment of this show.

This morning- Jan 22, '12- I was offended by the programs commentary by Ms. Nancy Giles. I value this as an unbiased program, but felt the comments about the republican campaign was entirely out of context for the usual format of "Sunday Morning." The left biases' of CBS was so evident. No candidate was spared ridicule .It conveyed to me a campaign for the Democratic Party. There are many programs that I can watch if I want to see political rhetoric or biases.

This has occurred before on this program, but I have chosen to ignore the blatant campaigning in the past.

Please keep my favorite program clean of political biases!

Sincerely,

Phillip L. Accardo, D.O.

You can blame the person for being a hypocrite, but those who believe anything they hear are even worse - and those who repeat what they hear that others have said as if they know, are just a American as it gets.

To me, if you can't handle the heat of the media, you can't be president. Obviously, the Grench can't handle it, so.......

Ms. Giles: You want an example of how the media deserve criticism? Here's one. Your article takes Republicans to task for hypocrisy, mostly justifiably. However, in the montage photo that accompanies your article, the most prominent face is that of Ron Paul, despite the fact that Paul has done NOTHING hypocritical. Thus, when Paul talks about the important issues, he has been routinely ignored. But when he is NOT directly involved in the subject of the article, his image is presented larger and more prominently than any of his opponents, including both Gingrich and Romney. How's that for media bias?!

I can forgive too, Ms. Giles, but I want to see an apology by you on behalf of CBS News to Ron Paul first, placed in a prominent article.

"[Clinton's] still highly thought of by some women's groups, and frankly I've never figured that out."

The rationale for THAT is what I don't want to think about; I'm afraid I will run into more evidence supporting that women and "bad boys" cliche.

How do we get the moderators in the 2012 Primary Debate Schedule to address many of the items addressed in Nancy Giles' commentary on today's show? I loved her commentary and salute CBS for letting her air it on Sunday Morning.
