I cannot believe that any woman would continue to be associated with the Catholic church. Really, a woman cannot be a priest! All of the nun's should start their own church and say the hell with the stupid idiot men who are running over them.

I find it somewhat bizarre that dissidents of the Catholic Church call on the "Spirit of Vatican II" as their source for disagreeing with the teachings of Jesus Christ and His Church. The TRUE spirit of Vatican II is found in the DOCUMENTS of the Second Vatican Council, and guess what? Practically all of the documents cite sources that the liberals claim are "Pre-Vatican II" such as the Bible, the teachings of the Church Fathers, the documents of past ecumenical councils such as the Council of Trent. Vatican II is a continuation of the Church's traditions and beliefs & not a break from the past as those silly cafeteria Catholics claim. In short, cafeteria Catholics are nothing more than glimmering jewels of ignorance.

For those reading this post, if you are serious about your faith, then please pray, go to Mass, receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation frequently, pray the Rosary, read Sacred Scripture, spend time in front of the Blessed Sacrament, read the writings of the Church Fathers & Mothers, and perform corporal works of mercy.

It is by living out our Catholic faith and allowing Jesus Christ to enter our hearts and every aspect of our being that we can reclaim our Church and the world. In short, we must strive toward SAINTHOOD.

The Catholic Church: A house divided

There was a time when I would have believed just about anything that was classified as news by the Networks but that has long changed. It is quite obvious that the main stream media has an agenda and the truth is not part of that agenda.

In this story about the Catholic Church you presented this biased story without understanding Church teaching nor were you too interested in the actual truth surrounding the health of the mother in relation to her pregnancy.

If you were interested in the truth, and not in trying to belittle the Church you would have found that the abortion was not even necessary. According to Dr. Paul A. Byrne, Director of Neonatology and Pediatrics at St. Charles Mercy Hospital in Toledo, Ohio, disputed the claim that an abortion is ever necessary to save the life of the mother, or carries less risk than birth.

Dr. Byrne stated that an unborn child at 11 weeks would have a negligible effect on the woman's cardiovascular system. And that pregnancy in the first and second trimesters would not expose a woman even with severe pulmonary hypertension to any serious danger. Only in the last three months of pregnancy does a woman's cardiovascular system have major demands on it. The baby could be artificially delivered at 21 to 24 weeks and have a good chance of surviving. And the only reason to abort the baby at 11 weeks was to make the abortion easier because the mother's life was not in immediate danger.

For me it is so nice that there are news sources that present the truth rather than an agenda and some day maybe your viewers will realize that too.

Sincerely,

I don't know why a story like this still amazes me. Glad I am not religious and if I was I sure would not pick the Catholic Church to guide me.

Ahhh you can always count on a religious fanatic to twist words to suit themselves. Perish6 you sound just like Usama. Understand this...IF JC showed up tomorrow he would take one look at the kids hungry, sick, & uneducated in Africa, Appalachia, Baghdad, Chicago,....Zurich, then look at all the Gold in the vatican and the self serving officials of the church judging and condemning just people trying to do their best, and somebody gonna have a lot of explaining to do, at the very least!

Until bozos like this bishop make absolutely positive that every child born is protected, fed and educated before they concern themselves with the unborn ones, the church will remain a band of thugs. Do not get me wrong or confuse the religion with the church, the catholic religion is great. The catholic church on the other hand is less than great!

My concern is that the Vatican can be so presumptuous to make our medical decisions for us. Some of us make ethical decisions based on what would be in the BEST interest of the existing children. The doctors saved the life of a mother of four. If they did as the church suggested, the children would be without a mother. Perhaps this church has lost focus on doing what is in the best interest of its children. Wanting power and control over the nuns is not an ethical concern but a political one. Not allowing citizens to make their own medical decisions regarding procedures that are legal and in this case life-saving is just another power play. If they are worried about declining membership it might be because folks are simply running for their lives.

Unfortunately, the Catholic Church hierarchy is the ultimate good old boys network. How Catholic women can allow themselves to be viewed as somehow unworthy to be priests is totally beyond me. In this church, the Mother of God herself can be a 'valued member of the church', but not a priest. That's not only absurd, it's just plain wrong. No matter what the Church says, God sees no difference between men and women.
