Totally agreed which is why I've been an Independent all my life.
Both parties put their agenda ahead of the good of the country. - Reply to this comment

WRONG! Most Americans don't save money because they can't! Their incomes are so low that it takes every penny that they make just to buy food for their families and keep a roof over their heads!

You live in a different Amercia than I, obviously.
I see people all the time paying for food with EBT (food stamps)who are wearing jewelry, have a cell phone, etc., etc., etc.
From what I observe, many can't distinguish between needs and wants.
You want to see poverty? Go to Guatemala. - Reply to this comment
- I don't think anyone should go hungry, but I also don't beleive anyone should celebrate a holiday they cannot pay for. Don't they have to eat the other 364 days?

So if they had a cheaper home or were renting they wouldn't be in this position?
---
If they never saved any money, yes.
Americans by and large don't believe in saving money for some strange reason. Look at the stats.
They want to spend all they make and then get a handout for being stupid with their money when the roof caves in.

Americans are rewarded for debt and penalized by saving. If own a home outright, you can't write off anything.
If you have a mortgage (debt) you can write off the interest.
If you own rental property, same thing.
If you wind up unemployed and want temporary welfare, you may not qualify if you have little to no debt. They will tell you to sell the car you own outright, and buy a new one (with little down) to increase your debt. Then you qualify and can collect benefits.
I can give examples for days. The more debt, leveraged financial vehicles, the more the rewards.
Try paying off all youR credit cards and closing the accounts. Watch what a nice reward you get for getting out of debt. Your credit rating plummets! Nice eh?
This is why Americans are in debt. It pays. We need a new system. Our current tax code is 67,000 pages. ludicrous. were screwed. - Reply to this comment
- When you have had your mortgage for a long time, it is not a good idea to Refinance, let me stress again, DONOT refinance if you have your mortgage for long time, to avoid mistakes, use 123 Refinance articles.

- I though Obama was going to save you? You'll just have to get in back of the line behind the public sector unions and other special interest groups.

- I guess I'm lucky that I read the "Ant and the Grasshopper" as a child.
Many of these apparently never did. Or if they did, they learned absolutely nothing from it. - Reply to this comment
- As any right-winger will tell you, if people can't afford food, they're just lazy.

Actually I'm an Independent and repubs here call me a lib every day.
Your reading comprehension isn't much obviously as I stated that it is "difficult to quantify" which is probably a word you don't understand based on your comment.
But in personal acquaintences I've seen several cases. Trading cars every year or two to impress, buying the biggest possible home they could qualify for to impress, taking trips they couldn't aford to impress, etc., etc., etc.
Granted there are plenty who flat had the rug pulled out from under them, no doubt.
But certainly many spent every dime they made and then some which is why they're now in a bread line instead of relying on savings to get them through a pinch. - Reply to this comment
